The Church of the Resurrection, more popularly known as the Church on Spilled Blood, is St. Petersburg's answer to Moscow's St. Basil's Cathedral. It was built on the order of Alexander III on the site of the assissination of his father, Alexander II, in 1881. The exterior is a confection of brick, cermic tile and mosaic. The interior is clad in mosaic. It's build alongside one of St. Petersburg's many canals. |
