About the Russellian Society

The Russellian Society is Sydney University's Philosophy Society. Established in 1975, we are a student run society affiliated with the Department of Philosophy at Sydney University.

The Russellian Society's objective is to develop the understanding of the issues and language of philosophy by the students of Sydney University and by other interested persons. In spite of its name, The Russellian Society has no connection, sympathetic or otherwise, to the philosophy of Bertrand Russell - the name is related to the society in the same way that the name The Aristotlean Society is related to their society (they have no particular affiliation with the philosophy of Aristotle).

Philorum is a philosophy forum provided to give almost everyone an equal opportunity, over several meetings, to present and discuss their ideas (based in Sydney).
