HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION
Previously, Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun ( RBDH ) also known as Rumah Bakti Hulu Kelang. This orphanage is a Organization of Education Orphans Selangor which was registered in 1966. With the approval of the registration, the committee concerned had been active to achieve the objectives of its establishment. Because of Y.Bhg Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris and his wife Y.Bhg Datin Salmah Suleiman, the Selangor Government has given a piece of land in Hulu Kelang with an area of 4.8 acres. To determine this project can be implemented successfully Y.Bhg Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris was appointed as Chairman of organization at that time. While, DYMM Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah has consented to become the patron of Rumah Bakti Hulu Kelang (RBHK) at that time.
Founder of Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun
In the early stages, RBHK were originally taking orphans in 1976, which consisting total of 26 childrens, which is 13 boys and 13 girls between the ages of 6 until 12 years old. RBHK was inaugurated by the Sultan of Selangor on March 5, 1977. From year to year the number of orphans has increased, and until now (2015), Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun have around 100 orphans aged from 7 to 17 years old.
These organizations have managed to erect buildings for the orphanage at a cost of RM158, 107.81. On March 2, 1982 , two dormitory block had been completed build. That's two dormitory worth RM600,000.00 contributed by the Selangor Government and the also from public donations. Mosque was built in 1984. In 2009, a new mosque was built to replace the old mosque. That new mosque has been contributed by Datin Salmah Y. Sulaiman, which is wife of the Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris. RBHK has got their own library in 1989 and became a Resource Center in 1997. Since RBHK has got a new mosque, the old mosque which was built in 1984, was converted into a new Resource Centre. The center is divided into two parts, which is a library and a computer room.
To honor the Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris, the members of Organization of Education Orphans Selangor has agreed to change the name of Rumah Bakti Hulu Kelang (RBHK) to Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun (RBDH). Besides that, the logo for the orphanage has also exchanged on 29 July 2011.
