| Soon, if not directly, after Jennifer becomes the new princess, Wendy is seen-dressed as Joshua-out in the rain. Jen hangs back as the other girls go to make fun of her, until she hears loud noises and cries coming the front yard. She goes to see what is going on, only to have the front doors suddenly swing open, revealing "Joshua" and the Stray Dog, Gregory, who is acting like an animal. Joshua sics his pet on Jennifer, who cowers in terror, certain she will die. |

| Suddenly, Jennifer remembers Brown and what happened to him because she let fear control her actions. She decides to try her hardest to survive and manages to escape outside, where she finds all the other girls dead. Joshua comes out and reveals that he is actually Wendy. She explains how she felt betrayed by Jennifer and apologizes for what she has done, giving Jen the gun she took from Gregory. Having seen that she is not his son, Gregory kills her before turning on Jennifer. Though she now has a weapon, Jennifer cannot bring herself to kill him. Gregory suddenly seems to realize something, possibly recognizing her and finally understanding she is not Joshua and his son is dead. He takes the gun from her and kills himself. |

Jennifer is eventually found and escorted from the scene by a police officer named Andrew Dolittle. When it is discovered that she is not only the survivor of the massacre, but also of the airship crash presumed to have killed all on board, her story made the front page, with the tragic murders at the orphanage being pushed into obscurity. It is possible after this event that she was sent to stay with relatives or possibly to a foster home. The trauma of all that happened causes her to forget everything from the airship crash to the orphanage massacre. The memories remain locked away, deep within her heart... |
