- Shutter release is the
button you press to take a
picture. Most shuter releases can be pushed down
halfway to lock the focus and check that there is
enough light for taking the picture
- Hot shoe or flash
attachment
has been a feature of cameras for many decades on the
arrival of digital photography has not despensed with
this accessory. The CCD in a digital camera needs
adequate light levels just as the film in a film based
camera does.
- Red eye reduction light
is a small
red light that comes on just before using the flash and
helps to reduce the optical effects known as red eye.
- Optical vewfinder lens
is a small lens that posses light
through to optical vewfinder at the back of the camera
so you can see the image that will be taken.
- CCD is a small light
sensitive chip
that is the key technology behind digital photography.
Light that posses through the lens barrel is focused
on it. CCD converts the received light into digital data which
is stored in a removable memory card.
- Memory card is a thin
card that contains
memory chip where the images that you take will be
stored inside the camera. Their capacity varies from
8MB of storage to 256MB. They are compact flash or
smart cards, and their capacity depends on the
resolution of the camera,the higher the resolution
more space it takes in a memory card.
- Batteries. Digital
cameras use a great deal
battery power,especialy if you use the LCD screen
for a long time.
- Optical vewfinder. You
look
through this vewplan to line up your image.
- LCD display is a small
screen
and can be used for prevewing the picture you are about
to take as well as for revewing images that have been
stored on the memory card.
- Serial cable to your PC
and
you to download the images you have taken.
- Optical zoom magnifies
the image through
the built-in lens, without any loss of optical quality
- Digital zoom enlarges a
selected
part of the image using digital technology. With
the digital zoom,the picture resolution is reduced
the greater the magnification.
