The Perfect STORM

A Gathering of Storms
Welcome, fellow mutants!

I've been a long-time admirer of THE X-MEN, and one of my favorite characters of all time - if it hasn't been obvious by now - is STORM. In the comics, STORM was a regal, commanding presence - an exotically beautiful creature whose powers enabled her to harness the forces of nature and bend them to her will.

Known also as the Windrider and The Weather Goddess, Ororo Munroe, in her incarnation as STORM, ironically provided an oasis of calm, coolness, and level-headedness compared to the rest of the X-Men.

Except for the few times when she would let her emotions take the better of her (say, when she's enclosed in tight spaces or made really, REALLY angry), Storm led the X-MEN on an even keel - a charismatic, fair, and courageous leader who continued the X-MEN saga after Cyclops, the original leader of the team, left and formed X-FACTOR with the newly-resurrected Jean Grey.

(Actually, Storm beat the living daylights out of him in a battle for X-Men leadership.)

Naturally, like any other X-Men fan, I was terribly excited to hear that the X-MEN movie was finally going to become a reality. Having seen both X-MEN and X-MEN:UNITED, I agree with most of the Marvel Universe that Bryan Singer indeed captured the essence of that strange band of mutants who were feared and hated by the world they had sworn to protect.

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure the X-MEN franchise will endure as one of the best comics-turned-into-movies projects.

Be that as it may, I must admit I was dismayed by the casting of Halle Berry as Storm. Now, Miss Berry is a fine actress (she DOES have an Oscar, after all), but I felt that she was not right at all for the role of Storm - physically and otherwise. While her lackluster performance in X-MEN was largely due to the fault of the script, which underused her character in favor of Wolverine, physically, her slight frame and overall demeanor couldn't convince me that this was the same commanding presence in the comic books who would one day lead the X-MEN.

This site is a wish-list of sorts exploring the "what ifs" - what if somebody other than Halle Berry had been cast to play STORM?

In short, this is my personal quest for The Perfect STORM.

To this end, I've assembled several black actresses, celebrities, and supermodels who, at the very least, I felt had the PHYSICAL attributes to do justice to the Weather Goddess.

The site also has some sections that take humorous jabs at the X-MEN themselves ;)

With that, let me once again welcome you to my site, and see my different flesh-and-blood (and PhotoShop-aided heheheh) interpretations of STORM. You may agree with my choices, or you may not, but if you're here, I'm pretty sure we all agree on one thing: STORM ROCKS!!!

'Nuff said.
