Campus Life
“Esta es su casa…this is your home.”

Location

MACC is located on the near northwest side of San Antonio in a residential neighborhood near Woodlawn Lake. The campus adjoins the Catholic Chancery and Assumption Seminary, and is close to St. Mary's University.

The new MACC facility is a quiet, comfortable and spacious campus. Designed to reflect the hacienda style architecture of Mexico and the Southwestern United States, the campus provides the perfect ambiente for learning, reflection, socializing, prayer and relaxation.

The MACC campus features four academic buildings, which include a state-of-the-art language lab, numerous small meeting rooms, a lecture hall and several classrooms; four dormitory buildings with double suite style rooms; a student lounge with a kitchen and community TV room; a central administrative building; a chapel, which is available 24-hours day; a bookstore and gift shop; and quiet gardens. In addition, MACC shares with Assumption Seminary a cafeteria and exercise facilities--a pool, weight room, basketball and tennis courts.

MACC is near several bus routes that offer easy access to downtown San Antonio, and within walking distance of a small shopping area. Close by are a post office, bank, grocery store, gas stations, several restaurants, and a number of Catholic and Protestant churches. MACC is also just a few blocks from Woodlawn Lake, a popular park that offers a walking and jogging track, picnic areas, and recreational facilities.

Community Life

The daily life of participants at MACC includes activities and programs that enhance the development of the whole person through experiential learning, spiritual development and community life.

The MACC community includes all persons who work, teach, and learn at MACC. Together we are responsible for creating an environment that is respectful of the worth and dignity of each person and is supportive of learning and spiritual growth. Each member of this community--whether student, staff, or faculty--is expected to assume responsibility for his/her conduct, to treat all members with respect and dignity, and to value the differences that occur among people as opportunities for enrichment and growth.

MACC strives to provide a working and educational environment for all students, faculty, administration and staff that is free of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. MACC also adheres to the sexual abuse and sexual harassment guidelines of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.*

Prayer and worship are an integral part of community life at MACC and students are encouraged to participate. Bilingual Morning Prayer and/or a Roman Catholic Eucharistic Liturgy are celebrated on most weekdays. Because MACC is a learning center for cultural sensitivity and pastoral development, our liturgies are often an extension of the curriculum and incorporate the participation of language and pastoral students as readers and presiders. MACC invites students of all faith traditions to participate in the worship program, respecting the Guidelines for the Reception of Communion of the United States Catholic Conference.* In the spirit of hospitality and ecumenism, MACC faculty will work with each student group to provide space and time for worship within their faith tradition. In addition to on-campus worship, MACC also maintains a list of neighborhood churches for students seeking opportunities for worship on the weekend, or worship experiences different than those held at MACC.

MACC community events are held occasionally to promote fellowship and the sharing of our cultures. These events include special dinners, performances by musical groups, video nights, guest speakers, and local field trips. Also students are encouraged to participate in events in the greater San Antonio community.
