Of all the things I got to see and do while at the IAJE convention, this has got to be the highlight.  Here is Mr. Artie Shaw (and some guy interviewing him).  I didn't even realize he was still alive!  (If you don't know who he is, look him up.  He's a great part of jazz history.)
I went to this panel called "Personal Best-- An Interview with Artie Shaw" thinking I was going to learn about the man's life and music etc from a video or speaker or something.  Then, some dude says, "It is my great pleasure to introduce to you... Artie Shaw."
After the interview (which proved Artie to be a very funny, though very cynical, old man), everyone rushed to meet him.  I was sitting in the very front of everyone because they ran out of seats, so I was one of the first up there.  Right before this picture was shot, he was saying "What's going on?  Where am I looking?" because there was so much chaos up there.  :)
A side view with a woman who ran up to the stage to kiss him and tell him, "You're the best-- the best!"
