| Snobunny is a CB handle given to me 33 years ago, by a trucker by the name of Snowball, who used to come to Minneapolis, MN from the east coat, every time he came into town, he would be shouting for Snobunny, and I used to talk to him until he was unloaded and headed back. I never met him, but he was a really nice man. The CB has been my hobby for a long time. I enjoy people and on the radio there are all kinds. There used to be a time when truckers were all men, but now there are just as many women as there are men, so one can become CB friends with both worlds. The CB also makes it easy to help people and be a guardian angel to many. I give local directions to truckers as they roll into Minneapolis, MN or leave. I also drive for a living so I understand getting from point A to point B with as little conflict as possible. It also helps truckers to know that they have a friend to talk to when they need to just talk to someone. The life of a trucker is not an easy one, for it causes many problems in life, so in listening and being a shoulder one can lean on and confide in is a big help to many truckers. Sometimes in ones circle of life we go through many stages. Sorrow, sadness and strife, and yet the good times and ones' happiness needs to be shared. While I am talking about sharing; I have to mention two other people who I share the radio with out there. We have a woman named HeadCounter, a good friend of mine, who has been giving local directions for years. She is known by truckers in all four corners of the USA, a truly remarkable woman. We also have Paperhanger, Red Eye, Curly Dog, ToShot and Ma just to name a few. And at last, our own local drivers who help us also, the cameraderie and teamwork is truly amazing. Some of the truckers I have had the privilege to meet and are good friends, and some of you have even taken the time from your busy schedule to teach me how to drive the big rig. Stop to think how important that truck driver is; If you eat it, drink it, wear it, drive it, live in it and I could go on, a truck driver delivered it. They sacrifice many things in their lives to move that freight. So the next time you see a trucker respect him or her and their rig. Give credit to an important person in our society, give him or her a wave or most important a smile. To all the truckers who have touched my heart and my life I hope in some way I have touched yours and may I live in your memories as you live in mine. |
