My Gt Granda O'Doherty William  (born in the Illies in 1874) who reared his family at 5 Creggan Road (where the above and below pictures) and 9 Clarendon St Derry. The O'Doherty family were a well respected within the Derry community and surrounds
My granda was Williams son Red Mickey Doherty.
PICTURES OF INISHOWEN
Native of the Illies but lived in Derry. Came to Derry when he was 14 years of age. He married Annie Kelly and  lived in 63 Argyle St, Derry. He was the manager of the Collar dept in the old city factory in Patrick Street. They then moved to 5 Creggan Street (ee picture below) He was conductor in the Hiberian Flute Band and was the first ever Chairman of the local Derry and District Football Assoc. He remarried Elizabeth McDonald from Moville on the 8th January 1929 and had another 2 sons,  Donald (of Highland Radio) and Roger,
Anna or Annie O'Doherty (Nee Kelly) daughter of Richard and Mary (nee Fullerton) Kelly. Born in Desertegney. She died suddenly of a heart attack in Cardonagh Chapel at the age of 49 during morning mass.
