Richard never married, he joined the Irish Army at Buncrana in 14 June 1924 and within a month (4 July 1924) was posted to the Army of school Music at the curragh camp. He served in the 2nd and 3rd and 4th Irish Army brass Bands. During his carrer in the army he was employed as a musician and a clerk. He was discharged from Service on pension after 21 years on 16 July 1947 having served a total of 23 years and 33 days in the defense forces.. He taught music and had a great sense of humour. He lived in Derry when off the army and address was 16 Linenhall Street. |
