Support for ESL Students

At Robertson State School students come from over twenty-five different cultural backgrounds including those from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan and Europe.
To learn more about the countries where our students come from click here or view
The World Fact Book 2000 for an alphabetical list of countries, maps and profiles.

MLOTE Review

We have just undertaken an extensive review of the school's support for Main Language Other than English background students.  It  is part of a District wide review to examine best practice in our schools and to identify areas for improvement.

To find our more about the review click here

or email our ESL teacher

Parent Information Workshops

Information sessions are held each term for parents as a commitment to building community partnerships and improving school's public image.  Previous workshops have included topics such as our GATE program.

As a focus school for Gifted and Talented Education we have a differentiated curriculum that aims to create autonomous life long learners.  This philosophy has been incorporated into teaching and learning in the ESL Program.
For more information on GATE and a sample ESL activity click here

Community Involvement

Each year families from different cultures join together to present an International Food Fair as part of the Robertson State School annual Fete.
Why not attend our next one on July 22nd,  2001.
