You can find this Web Site at www.geocities.com/rpals32.
I choose geocities.com as my server because it was cost effective (free) and in relation to other "cost effective" servers it had less advertisements and the over all uploading of the website was fairly easy. The nice thing about geocites.com is that they have a lot of tutorials handy should you run into a problem. I like the way that you can tab the advertisements off the side of your web page, as well.
I created my web page strictly hand coded in html. Ive never used Dreamweaver and I am not that familiar with other programs used in creating web pages. I felt it would be less time consuming for me just to create the web page from what I learned in class and I felt I had more control over my design this way. I probably had a lot less frustration in learning new software, too.
I wanted my website to flow nicely with consistent color and kept the logo present on each page as a reminder of the company. I also created the website so that all my links would be easily accessible from every web page. The logo on every page should take you home when you click on it. I wanted this to be a mandatory item on my website, it is so frustrating to me not to be able to get home when Im deep into a website.
I used the color green in different shades because I think green is soothing and also brings us all back to nature. I wanted the green to simulate grass. Since the website is dedicated to dogs, the green grass gives it a more natural and playful feel to the website.
I used the contrasting shades of green to make the website stand out to the consumer and invite them in.
I made sure to put links to every webpage at the end of every webpage so that the site links were more accessible to the reader. I put the site map link on the home page because I felt it was something a lot of people dont use for a smaller site, but I wanted it on the main page since that is typically where someone would look for it. I created all the photos in Photoshop with the web in mind. Each picture is at the lowest dpi possible without losing the quality of the pictures.
I didnt use CSS in my web pages because I didnt feel to sure about creating my whole final project in something I didnt feel completely comfortable with yet. I wanted to be able to create something that I didnt make things too complicated for me since I was hand coding everything. I feel really comfortable with tables, and I new I could get the look I wanted with them.
