Mom and Lena yiyi homeschool me partially and we do loads of fun activities together. Sometimes I do it alone with mom or yiyi and sometimes Royce and Ethan will join in. We are also members of a homeschooling group in Singapore. Check out the stuff that we have done:

Valentines' Swap

We did a Valentines' swap on Feb 03.

I made this card and mailed it to Rachel.

...and I got this card

from Sheralyn.

Hungry Catepillar Lapbook

In Mar 03, we made a lapbook based on Eric Carle's Hungry Catepillar.

I drew this using Marabau finger paint. It was a gift from Aunty Grace to Royce.

I had so much fun doing counting, colouring, etc. We even made a butterfly mask. I love masks!

Montessori Workshop (June 2003)

Mom and I attended the 2-day Montessori Phonics workshop facilitated by Teacher Yuli of Creative Montessori. Auntie Brenda and I-Jen also attended the workshop. We had so much fun there that I kept bugging mom to bring me there again and again. So I went for the Speech & Drama workshop the following week:

I-Jen and I trying out the large

movable alphabets

We gave a mini performance...

and I can't help feeling a bit stiff!

Mom, Dad & Royce came and watched the performance...and so did all the other kids' parents.  Now you know why I was nervous.

Flat Stanley (Traveller) Project

Whats a Flat Stanley?

Flat Stanley is the title character in a book by Jeff Brown. Stanley Lambchop is a perfectly normal boy until one night a bulletin board falls on him, flattening him like a pancake. But Stanley soon finds out that there are advantages to "squashedness." Expensive plane fare to California? No problem.Stanley folds comfortably into a brown paper envelope. Stanley doesn't let his profile-challenged body stop him from living life fully. One of the many advantages is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by travelling in an envelope.

This is one of my favourite project. Malcolm Bennink from New York sent Mike over one day and since then we had a wild time together. Check out the places we went!

Here's a message I received from Malcolm:

"Hello, My name is Malcolm Bennink, and I made Mike to send to you. I am 7 years old, and I homeschool. I have one brother. He is three years old. His name is Miles Bennink. We live in Jamestown, New York in the United States. Jamestown is in the Western part of New York State, south of Buffalo. My dad works at Ruby Tuesday, a restaurant, as a manager. We live in a stucco house. We have a pop-up camper trailer too. We have a big yard. We have a bluish green Ford pickup truck and a white Honda CRX. We have a garden, and a little green John Deere lawn tractor. I take karate lessons. I have yellow belt. I used to take piano lessions, but I'm taking a break for a while. I like to bake with my Easy Bake oven. I think I want to be a cook when I grow up. I like art too. My favourite cartoon is Rugrats. I am looking forward to having your traveller visit us."

The first thing we did was some glitter art!

Mom read us bedtime stories before

I put Mike to bed.

Mike's well secured under the seat belt on our way to Funan IT Mall to watch the "Live" performance of Ultraman

Mike & I watched this "Live" performance of Ultraman together. Royce & Ethan were there too.

Flat Timo

I also made a flat traveller - Timo Wong. Yiyi helped me draft a note to those who are hosting Timo.

Since I hosted Mike, Malcolm will host Timo. I hope Timo will also have a wild time like Mike.

Timo's passport

Dear friends,

My name is Timothy Lim, a four-year old kindergartener in Singapore

Have you ever heard of Flat Stanley? No? Let me tell you about him.  Flat Stanley is a book written by Jeff Brown. In the story, Stanley Lambchop was squashed flat by a falling bulletin board. When he wanted to visit his friends in California, his parents folded him up and mailed him.  In my project, I make my very own paper Flat Stanleys (I call mine Flat Timo Wong) and mail them to people I know.  I have included a journal. I would like you to treat Timo Wong like a guest, complete the daily journal (feel free to add extra pages to the journal) by writing down some of the things you do with Flat Timo and mail him back after a few weeks.

Yours truly,

Timothy Lim
