Amboy, CA

 | In Amboy, California, we saw Amboy Crater--which looks like
an inactive volcano. There were lots of lava flows. We stopped for some great photos and
to pick up some lava rocks as souvenirs. There wasn't much to see. |

Newberry Springs, CA

 | We drove down the mountains--it was a beautiful drive. |

Rt66 between Victorville

and San Bernardino, CA
|

 | We got to the western Los Angeles area and tried to find somewhere to
stay near Claremont, but everywhere we stopped was booked. Jerry wanted to end the trip
here and just go on to Las Vegas a day early, but after 2000 miles, I wanted to see the
end. Since there wasn't much of old Route 66 through L.A., we just got on the expressway
and drove to Santa Monica. I'm glad we did.

Even though it was a hazy day, it was still beautiful. .
 | After sunset we still didn't have a place to stay. We decided on the
Georgian, a 1930's era hotel on Ocean Blvd. Its the most luxurious place I've ever
stayed! I'm looking forward to walking along the ocean in the morning. |
