 | We had breakfast in Tucumcari and we were on the road. I drove for a
short time this morning. We came up over a hill and in the middle of the street was a huge
snake! This thing was stretched out from the center line almost to the edge of the street
in my lane. I wasn't able to miss it. I have no idea what it was but it was a reddish
color like the color of the dirt in the area.

|
 | We went through many small towns that were almost gone. A lot of our drive was on the
expressway with taking short trips off then right back on. Most of our trip was uphill
too! |
|

 | One not so small town was Santa Rosa, New Mexico.

 | We had lunch at Clines Corners (elev. 7200ft.)--a town that
got it's name from a man who kept moving his service station to keep with the alignments
the highways. |

 |
 | We made it to Albuquerque. We stayed at the El Vado Motel
and had dinner at
La Placita (part of the building was built in 1706). |

 | Tonight it looks like we are going to be able to see a lot of neon lights after dark! |
