Day 8

Previous Day Calendar Next Day

Amarillo, TX to Tucumcari, NM

We started our day by going through Amarillo, Texas. We stopped at the Blue Front Cafe for breakfast. After that, we stopped at a few shops in town and we were on our way. Jerry bought BJ a silver Route 66 coin for there honeymoon.

We stopped at the Cadillac Ranch too. The cars were buried a ways out in the field, so we walked all the way out to see them. By the time we were done there, it was noon. We spent a lot of time reading the graffiti--and leaving a little of our own behind as well.

There was mostly open road between there and Adrian, Texas, which is the half way point between Chicago and L.A. We took pictures in front of the sign in town. We lunch at the Midpoint Cafe. The people there were so nice to us!

We left there and and stopped in Glenrio--a town that is in both Texas and New Mexico! It is a ghost town now. The road was very wide; 4 lanes or more. We were the only people there. The only thing missing was the tumble weed blowing across the street.
