Quest Breakdown v1.0
by fallenist

Alright, you've seen all those wonderful stories on the messages about people receiving uber-rare items for a 75np Snow Faerie Quest. So you hike up to Terror Mountain, only to find that the Faerie wants 10,000NP worth of chocolates. Begrudgingly you do the quest, and get 1500NP, A Wet Snowball, and a Chia Belt. So are quests worth it? Here's the breakdown.

Snow Faerie Quests

 Ratings: 3/5
Wants: Chocolates, Medicines, Magic Items.
Prize: Average of 2000NP AND a random Snowball AND a prize (often battledome item) of R97 or below.

Snow Faerie Quests are quite fickle. Sometimes she will ask for 75np worth of items, sometimes 50,000np worth of items. She will more often than not ask for chocolates. Since you will normally get about 2k in pure NP, you should go ahead and do any quest under that price. Sometimes she will give out really nice items such as Scorchstones, and other times cheap foods. It's a chancy situation, so I wouldn't ever recommend spending more than 3k on her quest, unless you have the money to spare.

Kitchen Quests

 Ratings: 4/5
Wants: Food.
Prize: Average of 1200NP OR a random item under R90 OR a stat.

Kitchen Quests are probably the best quest. Though sometimes Mr. Chef feels it necessary to ask for new items costing in the 100's of thousands, he will just as often ask for under 1k of items. Unlike the Snow Faerie, the KQ will only give you one prize. Sometimes they really bite, but other times they are quite good. The real thing that makes KQ so attractive are the stats. KQ gives out stats quite frequently, and with the price of codestones raging in the four-thousands, this guy can be a real bank-saver. I recommend doing these quests under 3k definitely, and if you have a decent amount of money, 5k. Every stat saves you at least 4k, and for people of higher levels, can save even more. Definitely do these often.

Edna's Quest

Ratings: 1/5
Wants: Random items, mainly toys and food.
Prize: Average 150NP AND a Spooky Food

Edna's quests aren't that great. Often she will ask for toys totaling a thousand or more NP. I recommend doing these quests for under 500NP. Quite often all you will get is a Bat Cookie and 150NP. Sometimes, though, you can get really expensive Spooky Food from her. I wouldn't recommend doing these quests often.

Brain Tree/Esophagor Quests

 Ratings: 2/5
Wants: Information; Spooky Food
Prize: Information; Average 2300NP AND a Spooky Petpet or Braintree Weapon.

These quests are some of the riskiest. How it works is you must start a Braintree Quest. The Braintree will ask for the Date and Place of some character's death. You can't find them anywhere on the site, and they are completely random so other's answers won't work. The Key is the Esophagor. You must go and complete TWO of his quests, for which he will give you the answers the Brain Tree seeks. The real killer is having to do two quests. The first Esophagor quest could cost 75NP, and the second 75,000NP. Since you just don't know what the Esophagor will ask for, you could lose out. I recommend doing the first quest if it is under 1k, and the second if it is under 2k. Once you feed the Esophagor, scribble down his info and return to the Braintree. Type in your answer, and you will get your prize. The Brain Tree's prizes are totally random, and prizes of 75,000NP have been recorded, though most are only in the 2-3k range. You will often get a Spooky Petpet, some of which have high value. You can also get Brain Tree Weaponry, which cost about 1k each and make decent Newbie weapons. Do these every once in a while with CAUTION.

Jhudora/Illusen Quests

 Rating: 1/5
Wants: Random items, asks for R99 Items starting at quest 30.
Prize: Upon reaching a specified level, you get a certain prize.

J/I quests are some of the most hyped up activities in Neopia. Unlike the other quests, you have a short period of time (About 16 Minutes) to get the item, and the prizes are set so that everyone gets the exact same prize when they reach the certain level. These quests are massively expensive, and are the cause of why R99's are so inflated. The reason most people play are to get the weapons. Some of the strongest and best weapons on Neopets come from these quests, but it is hard to get. Leaf Shield, Honey Potion, Portable Cloud, Jhudora's Potion, Illusen's Staff, and Wand of the Dark Faerie are highly sought after. The final Staff and Wand are the ultimate weapons- each reflecting all of certain icon types, healing, and a massive base of icons to boot. However, they are so rare that it is doubted whether or not any of them even exist in Neopia. By the time someone gets one, their account is usually hacked or otherwise frozen. Regardless, J/I quests aren't highly recommended. You start off getting asked for normal, cheap items, and the rarity increases as you ascend levels. You really shouldn't pay any more than 1k per quest for levels 1-15. There are occurrences when new or expensive items are required, but it isn't likely. The killer comes at level thirty in which they start asking for R99's. From then on, nothing but R99's will be asked for. This adds up quickly, as most R99's are 500k+. Truly, the only way to get all the items would be to own every R99, since most R99's are unbuyables, and you have to wait for the trade to process. On top of that, most people will charge more for a quester who needs the item immediately. So basically, you will never get to the upper levels, and if you want to get the Honey Potion or other item, it is much cheaper to purchase them. All in all, stay away from these quests, or expect to lose a big chunk of money. It's not worth it in the end. If you do decide to take on these demanding ladies, remember that you can do one quest every 12 hours, if you do an Illusen quest you can't do Jhudora's until you fail an Illusen's (and vice-versa), and it's best to open another window to the shop wizard before beginning.

The Uber Faerie Quests

These are random events, and will shut off the shop wizard until you complete the quest. To complete these, go to the Quest Headquarters (In Faerie City or by clicking on the main guild icon in the shopping toolbar) You can always post in the guild board with what item you need, and I am certain any person would gladly look it up and tell you who's shop has it. We're just nice like that! ;-) Here I will list the basics for each quest. For Fire, Water, Light, Dark, Queen, and Space, go ahead and do them! It's a cheap stat! If you refuse to do a quest, you need to be sure to go to the Quest Headquarters and click so, or you will be stuck wizard-less. Once you refuse, you won't be able to have another quest for roughly half an hour, but the chances of you getting another one in that short of time are slim to none.

Fire Faerie Quest

Rating: 5/5
Wants: Clothing
Prize: Raises Attack permanently (x2)

Air Faerie Quest
 Rating 3/5 Wants: Grooming
Prize: Raises Speed permanently (x2)
Note: Speed is really unnecessary, but it is still a stat.

Earth Faerie Quest
 Rating: 1/5
Wants: Magic Items
Prize: Bloats pet, heals it completely.
Note: Magic items like novas are expensive... this is a worthless quest.

Dark Faerie Quest
 Rating: 5/5
Wants: Toys
Prize: Raises HP permanently (x2)

Light Faerie Quest
Rating 5/5
Wants: Trading Cards
Prize: Level Up permanently (x1)
Note: Be careful about this one. If you are training
and haven't maxed out the amount of stats you can get at your current level,
it could end up costing you more codestones.

Water Faerie Quest
 Rating: 5/5
Wants: Books
 Prize: Raises Defense permanently (x2)

Faerie Queen Quest
 Rating: 5/5
Wants: Varies
Prize: Raises various stats up a random number. Average is +2 of 3 different stats.
Note: What Fyora wants is quite random
and can cost very little or very pricey. It's worth doing
because it can raise several stats up several points.
It is really unlikely you will get this quest.

Space Faerie Quest
Rating: ?/5
Wants: Varies
Prize: Raises Level permanently (x4)
Note: Confirmed 01/23/04

Fountain Faerie Quest
 Rating 3/5
 Wants: Varies
Prize: A dip in the Rainbow Pool- a random color for your pet.
Note: Also new, not much is known. Apparently upon completing this quest you can go to the Rainbow Pool and have your pet's color changed. I am unsure if it is a random color like the Lab Ray, or if you can pick it. If you like your pet's color, don't bother doing this.

Well, that is all about quests! If you ever have any questions, neomail me (fallenist) and I will help you best I can. Have fun, enjoy our guild!
