So, You Want to be a Champion?
By the Splendiferous UchiBuchi

The battledome is a place where neopians can just sit back, relax, and kick some neopet hide. The battledome is dominated mainly by the strong and tough Neopets, but beware seemingly weak and frail Neopets can sometimes pack a hard punch. While offense plays a big part in the battledome defense is needed just as much and sometimes maybe even more. In this article I will explain everything there is to know about the battledome and the ways of fighting in it, and before you know it even our fellow newbie neopians will be fighting like pros.

Understanding the Battledome

Most of us when we first start playing Neopets ask ourselves, What is the battledome all about? Well the battledome is a place where Neopets go all out in battles with other Neopets. Yes it does get a little messy sometimes, but it can all be prevented from happening. For example if your opponent is equipped with a Sword of the Air Faerie it is obvious that you may want to use a Triple Turbo Dryer which will fend off all air damage done to your neopet. The first thing you will need to understand is the type of damage, damage most commonly referred to as icons, that can be dealt in the battledome. There is fire, water, air, light, darkness, earth, and physical. As you noticed in the example above certain weapons may deal damage of only one type, and of course for every type of icon that can be dealt in the battledome there is a weapon that can deflect or block it a great deal. Now most of all the main point of the battledome is to win! Of course when you first start battling you may lose a few times, but its okay. No one is perfect. Now that you know what the battledome is I will explain the most important thing of all. What weapons you will need to equip in order to become dominant in all your battles according to your budget.

Equipping the Right Weapons

The biggest question of all is what weapons you will need. Well as most of us know the better the weapon the higher the price. In this section I will list every must have weapon for every neopian according to the limits of their budget starting off with the average Newbies budget. The average newbie will have anywhere from 1-100,000 neopoints in their account. Now for you guys I am mainly going to have to suggest the species way. Species meaning Elephante, Gelert, Kiko, etc. The best pets to adopt are Lupes, Quiggles, Kikos, Kacheeks, and Elephantes. Since Elephantes are the best among the other rest of the ones I just named I am only going to cover their weapons. Their species weapons beat all other species weapons and remedies. The Elephantes have the Elephante Stunray (costs about 16k) which deals 8 constant icons and has a bit of a chance to freeze the opponent. Since you can only equip one of those the next offensive item you will need is the Enamel Elephante Sword. The last weapon to get for your Elephante is the Elephante Unguent which heals 50% of your pets total hit points (HP). If youve already trained and want an Elephante there is always the Elephante Transmogrification Potion which will mutate your pet into an Elephante. If you dont want to do that then the next best thing is to equip your pet with dual Hand Painted Scarabs (which deal 6 icons each and defend some physical attack), an Illusen's Earth Potion, a Caustic Potion/Mud Mixture (they do the same thing), a Leaf Shield, and a bunch of Sticky Snowballs.

Now for the middle class neopians who have anywhere from 200k-800k neopoints who wont need species weapons will be able to afford the better weapons. Those weapons, no questions asked, are Battle Ducks/Snowball Clubs (they do the same thing except snowball clubs are cheaper), a Honey Potion, a Green Scorchstone, and a Green Sticky Hand.

Finally for the super wealthy (anyone with well over 1-2 million neopoints) there is, for the lower portion, Dark Battle Ducks, a Hypno Helmet, a Honey Potion, and a Green Scorchstone. For the higher portion of the wealthy neopians there are Attack Peas, a Jade Scorchstone, a Hypno Helmet/Ice Dice, Rod of Dark Nova, Hubrids Puzzle Box, Sword of Skardsen, and last but definitely not least Faerie Slingshots although those are becoming harder an harder to find. Well now all you need to know is how to use them.

Weapons and Their Proper Uses

Since the form of attack and defense you will need to use depends on your opponent I will only be able to explain the basics of how to use your weapons. Youll need to constantly attack your opponent with you strongest weapons varying your selections on fierce/berserk depending on how you are doing in your battle. Your selections on what type of attack you will need to use should consist of certain faerie abilities. Those are burrow, drain life, fiery gaze, boil, steam shield, diamond dust, sink, and regeneration. When your Hp is low of course use your healing item(s) accordingly to your stats. One common offensive strategy in the battledome is to freeze your opponent and then on the next move use your 2 strongest weapons and do as much damage as you can. A good defense weapon to have is Ultra Dual Shovel which reflects earth icons (one of the most commonly used types) rendering honey potions and battle potatoes useless. Remember you will need to use your faerie abilities such as burrow accordingly to the battle.

When Training via Training School or Neggs

Just about everyone knows that the higher your stats the better your pet is in the battledome. The higher your strength; the more damage you can deal in the battledome. The higher your hit points the longer you can last in a fight. Unfortunately defense and movement stats are unclear as to what they are good for in the battledome. Of course defensive stats are supposed to help your defense but does it? It is also rumored that movement is completely useless. Well thats pretty much it. Everything in this section is pretty straight forward. Oh and when training be sure to get to level 50 so you gain the berserk ability.

Thats about all there is to know about how the battledome works. I obviously couldnt of possibly covered everything there is to know about the battledome since merely just an article cant explain it all. You would need something more like a book. Therefore if you have any more questions regarding anything I didnt cover about the battledome or just need help for your battles neomail me and Ill be glad to increase your knowledge about the battledome.
