Slip Knot

Pick up the yarn with your right hand.
Bring it behind your left hand, across your left thumb and palm, bringing the yarn over the working yarn. Don't Let Go!
Take hold of the working yarn with your left hand and pull your hand through the loop that was around your hand.
Pull the loop so that it is snug but not tight.
With the working yarn pointed towards you, place the loop on your hook.
Pull the working yarn to tighten the loop around the hook.
It should be loose enough to slide the hook back and forth a bit.
If you need to undo the knot just take out the hook and pull both ends of yarn.


Chain

Put a slip knot on the hook.
Hold the hook so the end is slightly pointed towards you.
Bring the yarn around the back of the hook and down over the front, resting the yarn in the tip of the hook. (Also Known as Yarning Over)
Pull the yarn through the slop knot.
Keeping the working yarn over the index finger of the hand oppopite the hand with the hook, helps the stiches go more smoothly (at least I find).
To make more chains just yarn over and pull through the last chain made.
The loop on the hook is Not counted when you are counting your chain stitches.


Slip Stitch

Insert the hook into the chain (space, or stitch indicated in pattern), Yarn Over and pull it through the chain (or stitch, etc) and the loop on the hook.


Single Crochet

Put hook through the chain (or stitch indicated)and yarn over and pull through the chain to make a loop.
You should have Two (2) loops on the hook.
Yarn Over and pull through Both loops on the hook.
You should always have one loop on the hook.


Half Double Crochet

Yarn Over and insert hook into chain or stitch indicated.
Yarn Over again and Pull through the chain or stitch, to form a loop.
You will have three (3) loops on the hook.
Yarn Over and pull through all three (3) loops. Leaving one loop on the hook.


Double Crochet

Yarn Over and insert the hook into the chain or stitch indicated.
Yarn Over and Pull through chain (or stitch).
You should have three (3) loops on the hook.
Yarn Over and pull it through the first two (2) loops Only !
Yarn Over and pull through the last two (2) loops, to leave one loop on the hook.


Treble Crochet

Yarn Over Twice , and insert hook into chain or other stitch indicated.
Yarn Over and pull through chain or other stitch, to form a new loop.
You should have four (4) loops on your hook.
Yarn Over and pull through two loops Only . (3 loops on hook)
Yarn Over and pull through two loops Only . (2 loops on hook)
Yarn Over and pull through last two loops. (1 Loop on hook)


Double Treble Crochet

Yarn Over Three (3) Times, and insert hook into chain (or other stitch).
Yarn Over and pull it through the chain (or other stitch), to form a new loop.
You now have five (5) loops on your hook.
Yarn Over and pull through two loops Only . (4 loops on hook)
Yarn Over and pull through two loops Only . (3 loops on hook)
Yarn Over and pull through two loops Only . (2 loops on hook)
Yarn Over and pull through last two loops. (1 loops on hook)
