Kelly's Uncommon Heroes "This page is dedicated to our local veterans, the men and women from Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia and surrounding communities, who served our country." quote from Kelly. This is a wonderful sight providing information on the veterans of WW1 and WW2 from the area. In many cases, it provides spouse's names, parents names and other family members who served. The communities involved stretch from Marie Joseph to Country Harbour, including lists from Antigonish, Guysborough and Pictou County. The information and pictures were gathered from old newspapers and the veterans themselves. Also, if you know a veteran from the area, you can get them posted to honour their service. Just drop Kelly an email. The Tiny Tattler.com The Tiny Tattler, Canada's smallest newspaper, was published from 1933 to 1934 in Central Grove, Digby County, Nova Scotia. The goal behind the web page is to post as many copies of The Tiny Tattler as possible. Also posted is genealogical information such as census and a surname index to help researchers. The site is dedicated to the co-founder of the newspaper, Ivan Shortliffe. The site is new (began July 2000) and is under construction, but still holds information worth checking out if relatives lived in the community of Central Grove. North Nova Scotia Highlanders This site was created by Kevin Jackson. It is a memorial page dedicated to those who served with the North Novas. Within its pages hold many names of the brave souls who fought, were wounded or died for their country. Also included are facts on the unit, pictures, and lots of history. "The purpose of this page is to educate, learn and remember through the world wide web. 'Lest we forget...,'" Kevin Jackson. Drop by the site, in honour of Remembrance Day, and share a few moments with the many men who helped keep Canada free. |
