... PEOPLE!!! ...

I keep fondly imagining that there is nothing that people can do will surprise me and each time somone does something that not only surprises but flabbergasts me! Flabbergasts! (If you don't know what that is feel free to look it up!)

I acutely hate rumours and rumour mongering and I think anyone who participates in this activity is an individual whose brain has the dimensions, density and content of a Soya bean. In fact let me not mince worlds. Wewe ni mjinga. Wewe ni zuzu. Wewe ni shenzi. Wewe ni duduvle. You have the IQ of a glass of cold water, USHINDWE WEWE!

The facts are simple. You run into an acquaintance you have not seen in quite a while, and there is a lot to catch up on. The banter flows so well that very soon there is an invitation to a home cooked dinner. Home cooked dinners are my weakest point and I accept and am treated to an excellent meal. I then head home replete with news, views and a T-bone steak. However a mere week later what I didn't do! Whatever Children of God may lack it is clearly not a fertile imagination. It would seem that I have received everything from a backrub to a massage, to breakfast, to 2 strong young sons!

I truly have no words....

... THE SHAMMIES! ...

Nelly Furtardo may have flown like a bird but personally I have some serious beef with these Grammies. Yes yes, I am over 2 weeks late but this is my site and the prerogative of what to write is mine. The fact that the opinions are also mine simplifies things drastically! So much so that I am going to do nothing but freely express myself.

Whatever criteria they use to select nominees I have no clue. Research indicated that some few thousand odd members of a foundation are used to select the contestants and a final voting is held to select the winner. This works ideally in theory but in practice I find it decidedlywanting to the extreme, make no mistake about it!

I don't for a second dispute that she is a performer of note and an excellent piano player. I don't begrudge her 6 nominations. In fact I applauded her. Fallin' is one of my favourite songs - at least if I don't hear it every hour. However I don't think she is Five Grammies Worth. Two or three are perfectly in order but not five. Not five. Please not that I am a great fan of this lass but not 5 Grammies worth!

I find it ridiculous that India.Arie got no Grammies at all! RIDICULOUS! As a matter of fact it smacks of some sort of shallowness on the part of the voting members. There is no disputing that she is not the prettiest of them all but that should have no bearing at all on her music! IF SHE WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO GET OVER 7 NOMINATIONS SHE MUST BE GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN AT LEAST ONE!

The fact that U2 swept away all those Grammies without half trying I find laughable. Those lads were just as surprised to win as I was! Last year a similar situation was the case and no doubt the same will occur next year. It is my conviction that U2 have shares in the organization and will continue to win Grammies for as long as they are breathing, as well as Bob Dylan, who must have celebrated his 204th Birthday very recently, but every year picks up something!

In short -- I am not convinced as to either the transparency of the thing or what criteria they used to arrive at the nominees. But yenyewe I almost shed tears with India.Arie when she heard her last Grammy went to U2. Even those boyz I could see felt for her.

Miscellaneous Errata.
That outfit Dre was wearing jazzed me thoroughly and I am thinking critically of getting hold of one, complete with the wig. Outkast shone and I believe they should have taken Song Of The Year.
Mary J performedNo More Drama with a hell of a lot of Drama. I am surprised she did not do herself an injury!
Craig David showing up there was a nice touch! I still think he should have been nominated for a lot more than he was!
I never thought I'd live to see Lil' Kim win a Grammy! Just goes to show that bathroom crooners all over the world also have a chance!
What Blu Cantrell was doing on the nominees list I just Cant-Tell and will wonder until I meet my maker.
If India.Arie was the twin sister of Claudette(?) of City High she would have needed a wheelbarrow to cart her Grammies home. Ugly she is most definitely NOT!
Bob Dylan almost put me to sleep! I'm sorry to say but this dude should hang up his guitar and get himself a nice ranch somewhere to retire!
Someone should talk to the Dixie Chicks about coordinating their wardrobe! One came with what looked like those blankets some of our Maasai herdsmen friends operate while on duty!
I'd like to get my hands on that Album, O Brother Where Art Thou, that no one had ever heard of before the Grammies that took Album of the Year.
Alicia Keys gave a great performance I must say!
At long last Eve got some recognition away from the shadow of DMX and the other Ruff Ryders. Ndugu kama akina Jadakiss have quite a wait before they even get nominated! Let Me Blow Your Mind is a great track.
Timbaland should have been nominated for producing. Anyone who can turn around a dude like Bubba Sparxx should get a lot more than a Grammy!
