For
those clamoring for past issues -- check out the archives and hope
to High Heaven that what you want is there!
|
|
|
| Read
extracts from my journal. Most of the interesting stuff is there and
I am thinking about sharing with you the really neat stuff like when
I helped milk a cow that turned out was a Friesian bull.... |
|
|
| Take a look at the agumbaru's corner
-- (see if you're there!) I rant and rave and pull no punches! For
all you know, you may be next! |
|
|
| Take a look at some assorted links.
I will collect more and organize them when I feel inclined to but
until then -- enjoy! |
|
| Something I have been driven to make
by a firebrand lass whose email was in HEX! A very technical page
for watu wa IT. |

Well today has been interesting enough as it is! For starters there
was an endeavour to climb Lukenya Hills which if reason prevails
should be renamed to Lukenya Bumps and Assorted Rocks. There
is nothing hilly about the joint and the only thing that
it produces well is large amounts of dust. Spent an hour of our
valuable time waiting for one JOSEPHINE who merrily sent
us an SMS after all that time reminding us that it was April
Fools' Day! I seemed to be the only one to appreciate the humour
of the situation but after almost getting my head smacked I kept
it to myself.
|
| My brother
Eros refused to co-operate with my best efforts and for some reason
I found myself at the wrong end of a frosty silence, which I psychologically
shrugged off and proceeded to dive headlong into the fun and festivities.
After that an excellent lunch where chicken featured prominently on
the menu culminating in a dish of ice cream. After that a hot bath
and reclining in dressing gown, after which I just sat and smiled
serenely at all and sundry. At some minutes to 10 some colleague raised
the issue of passing through K2 but after a long hard day walking
in the dust the last thing one wants to do is inhale disco smoke! |
| ... OF TELLY! ... |
| I walked in on my boy
Nico and the dude was in the process of watching Jenny Jones.
I am a very liberal dude and did not raise the matter seeing as man
is free indeed to watch anything that he pleases but his resulting
and embarrassing efforts to explain that he accidentally pushed the
wrong channel on the remote as he was reaching for a glass was as
animated as it was unconvincing. Journalism is an issue
that is subject to opinion so as I left this hapless dude trying unnecessarily
to explain his actions I wondered just what people watch on TV. What
does make your cup of tea? Comedies? Romances? Cartoons? Current Events? |

During the course of my Friday I did
happen to occasion to pay a visit to Kenyatta Hospital where it would
seem that among the admitted is a young boy whose name I shall keep
to myself, who I must say moved me quite a bit. |
| It would seem
that for a period of some months the boy had been beaten religiously
and regularly like a dusty Turkish carpet by his own mother.
I was very shocked to see him because he was a celebration
of scars and wounds, chief among them a HUGE
would just above his right eyebrow where it would seem a stool
made solid and plastic contact with his head. Beside
it was another whose source he could not remember. His body however
shocked me the most. The boy is covered with wounds,
scars and burns. And when I say covered I do mean covered.
It was with difficulty that he could lie down at all on the hospital
bed. Poor wee lad. He was visibly terrified and it took me
all of five minutes, a lollipop and some kind words to get him to
have a word. He told us the entire story of how for several months
he had been beaten at times till he passed out by his
very own mother for the flimsiest of excuses, like being
late, looking untidy and other mediocre excuses! I left there a bit
more drained that I did when I went in and I must say my faith
in the goodness of man is a tad lower! However my faith
in the resilience of childish innocence is greater
and I wouldn't be surprised if that little boy turned his situation
around completely! |
| ... BABY BOY... |
 |
My favourite uncle Yoves recently
took delivery of a fine young baby and on Sunday I went to
see the little tyke. That young man will have a fine future if all
I saw continues to persist. For starters this young lad refuses
to cry and I am led to believe from his doting mother that he only
cries when he is hungry or when something is inadvertently deposited
in his inner wear. |
| However I sympathize with
babies all over the world. I would imagine if you are a baby and one
day strangers suddenly appear, insist on carrying you in a
variety of uncomfortable positions, gibber at you like
monkeys and make all sorts of annoying sounds, reminiscent
of a asthmatic and constipated pigeon you really
would mind all the fuss! But until I am senile and unable
to feed myself I shall continue to do just that with every
baby I meet. I did it when I used to play rugby and attempt to break
the bones and spirits of my opponents and I see no reason to stop! |

| ... THOUGHTS ... |
|
The dude from Bangalore who came to our house last week had
only one leg. I was not surprised to learn he was called Balan Singh!
|
| ... FEEDBACK ... |
|
I have a constitutional right to give My own shout-outs to whoever
I please!
Yoves: Congratulations on the baby!
Bryan: I've read your mail and am giving it a thought.
Simiyu: I've read your mail and am also giving it some thought.
Aida: U got style there girl!
Eve: You're not that girl!
Jonah: You, sir, are a River Troll. And no doubt River Trolls
all over will soon be complaining at the insult done to them.
Beth: Still in shock! Thanks for the chocolates!
Miss X: If you have the dimensions of a motor boat that spaghetti
strap and the hipsters simply don't work for you!
Doreen: Is intelligence acquired or inherited? And if it
is, does it skip generations?
