Above:  My 2001 Honda VFR800.

After owning the Bandit for a couple of years, I replaced her with the VFR.  This bike has an 800cc V-Four engine that is fuel injected and has gear-driven DOHC.  Most other modern motorcycle engines have CHAIN-driven cams.  The gear-driven cams of the VFR gives the bike a distinctive whine that no other bike has.  In addition, it's V4 configuration along with its firing order gives it a distinctive exhaust note.  It sounds like a race engine of the highest order, simlar to the way a Ferrari V12 or Porsche Flat-six engine sound.

My VFR is fitted with a Two Brothers Racing carbon fiber slip-on, and Power Commander II to further tweak its power curve. The wheels are also powder coated light grey to replace the OEM black color.

Many owners of VFR's use their bikes for sport-touring because of its protective fairing and relatively comfortable riding position.  This is the quintessential "Do It All" bike!  A beautiful and capable sportbike, that is also comfortable and practical enough for the daily commute and long distance riding.

Right & Below Right:  A good before and after shot of the VFR.  Honda paints most of its sportbike wheels in gloss black, which looks good on racebikes but virtually "cloaks" the wheels on street bikes.  After only a few short rides, the black wheels immediately get coated with a layer of dust and dirt that is very noticeable.  Being anal about the cleanliness of my bikes, I obviously cannot stand this!  So, I chose to powder coat the wheels on my VFR800 to a light grey/silver.  The new color is not only durable and resistant to scratches, it also does a good job of "hiding" dust, as well as bring out the detail of the single-sided swingarm.
