| Chapter 15 Please Mr. Postman |
| What kind of a sea is this? asked Pam, looking around. The Sea of People, Paul answered. Of course, she agreed. The room was light and pleasant and around the edges of the walls, there stood people. Some were old and some were young. Some were rich and others poor. All races, languages, careers, and classes were represented. And all of them looked radiantly happy. Perky upbeat music filled the room giving it a celebration atmosphere. The walls stretched hundreds of feet into the air and were filled with windows. More peoples faces beamed out of every window. Now where do we go? Rita wondered. Lets ask somebody, JoJo suggested. They walked up to a smiling black woman and Paul said, Excuse me Maam. Were trying to send a message to our friends back on the earth. Do you know where we need to go to do this? Of course, she smiled. All you gotta do is write your message down and put in an addressed envelope and give it to the postman. He should be around here somewhere. They thanked her and turned away. We need some paper to write the message on, Rita said. Pam pointed out an elderly woman who was writing something in a notebook. Maybe she would give us a sheet of paper. The woman kindly gave them a piece and loaned them her pen as well. She introduced herself as Eleanor, a paperback writer. They thanked her and went on their way. They walked around the room, making their way through the mazes of people. Suddenly Rita spotted the postman. Wait a minute, Mr. Postman! she called, hurrying towards him. He stopped and turned around and smiled. Please Mr. Postman, she began. Could you send this letter for us? Of course, the postman answered as Paul handed him the letter. He said, Dont you worry. Your friends will have it by tonight. What is todays date? Pam asked. The postman told her and she looked shocked. The show is day after tomorrow! Will that give them time to get their act together with William? I think so, Paul replied sounding calm. Now if we can just find our way back to the Yellow Submarine we can watch on that TV screen and see what happens. JoJo stood there head in hand, and groaned. You all had a good trip, but I didnt enjoy it. Theres got to be a better way back. Hes right, Pam agreed. Well never make it back to that screen in time to watch the show if we go back the way we came. But what makes you think theres a better way? Rita asked. I doubt if the Yellow Submarine will suddenly appear and let us in. Pardon me, Madam, but did I hear you say Yellow Submarine? asked a young gentleman. Well, yes sir, you did, Rita answered, a little surprised. There is a Yellow Submarine right out that door, he informed them. No one can figure out how to get in or what the WORD is. Thank you! Rita, Paul, and Pam all said at once. |
