| Chapter 13 Paperback Writer |
| A whole other world opened up before them. Books stretched on in a endlessly large room on shelves which must have reached 100 feet into the air. The Sea of Books, Rita murmured in awe. Look how many there are! Some of the books were so tiny they could fit in Ritas jeans pocket while others were so large that JoJo couldnt reach the top, standing on Pauls shoulders. I feel so little in here, Rita commented as they walked slowly among the books. Where do you think we should start? Pam asked. Surely we dont have to open all of these books before we find a clue. This book looks interesting, Rita said as he pulled a book entitled Lovely Rita by Rachel R. Brown off the shelf. She opened it and there on the first page was a black and white drawing of her, Paul, Pam, and JoJo. She was holding what appeared to be a huge sandwich. Pam was sitting on the rim of a gigantic soup bowl. Paul was standing up to his waist in marshmallow pie and JoJo was floating in the sky on a huge chocolate chip cookie. The picture was titled, The Sea of Food. Now that sounds good! JoJo said as he looked over her shoulder. Rita just kept looking at the picture and suddenly the black and white drawing become colored, then photographs, and then real life and Rita found that she was really standing there in the Sea of Food with huge sandwich in her hands. |
