Rocketshipper Section

What is a Rocketshipper?

A Rocketshipper is anyone who has ever watched an episode like "Holy Matrimony!" and asked him/herself "Why aren't those two together yet?"  Obsessed shippers will look for any hint that Jesse and James are in love, and will build web sites, draw pictures, and/or write fan fic putting the two of them together.  Most people think that all shippiness branched off from one of the most famous relationshipper topics of all time-- phileshippers, the people who want Mulder and Scully of the X-Files together.  There are different kinds of relationshipping things in Pokémon:  Rocketshippers (of course), Cacoshippers, Neoshippers, and Gakishippers.

Read my important note to Cacoshippers here.
Anti-shippers and Cacoshippers are not the same thing.  Cacoshippers are a branch of the anti-shippers.  I don't think I need to explain what the term anti-shipper means.  :)

Neoshippers are Butch and Cassidy shippers.  Though I don't really believe this one, I will not insult the Neoshippers.  It takes imagination to put together two characters who have only been shown in two episodes.  That's why I can't do it.  I can't find a basis for their relationship.  What I really have a problem with is the small group of people who work out James/Cassidy, Jesse/Butch relationships.

The most convincing shippiness (other than Rocketshippiness!), even though it makes me want to hurl myself off a tall building,  is Gakishippiness for Ash and Misty.  I don't know where or how the term "Gakishipper" came up.  Maybe the "gak" part is the noise we make imagining anyone being in love with Ash Ketchum.  Vomit-worthy as it may seem, the writers are working towards Gakishippiness, and maybe even Rocketshippiness!
New information!  "Gaki" (a Japanese word) actually means brat, or, as TR calls them, twerp.  So, literally, it means Twerpshipper.  Thanks to Kyuti Musachan for sending this information!

And now, for those of you who need more proof, I'm giving you a little episode guide of the shippiest Team Rocket episodes.  If I leave something out, let me know!

Johto Shippy Episodes

This part is by no means finished, because my habit of oversleeping has caused me to miss a few Johto episodes.  If anyone has information on Johto shippy episodes, please send it to me.
"Spinarak Attack":  Jesse and James were following in the footsteps of the famous criminal, the Black Arachnid.  While Jesse and Meowth argued, James picked the lock and announced, "I'm a burglar!"  Jesse got really close to him, looking like she was about to kiss him, and said "Nice work, James!"  ^_^
Pokemon the Movie 2000
While a very shippy scene was rumored to have been cut out of this movie, there was definitely suggestion that there was something going on between Jesse and James, and Meowth made it clear that he knew it!  Check out the revealing conversation in Quotes.
The Ghost of Maiden's Peak
Sure, this one seems un-shippy because of the fact that James fell for the maiden's ghost, but HE WAS UNDER A CURSE!  Once he snapped out of it, he started begging Jesse not to let the ghost get him, so she shot a cannon gun at Gastly.  James scrambled up the cliff with really big eyes, saying "You really do care!"  If that's not proof that he loves her, what is?  Jesse's little denial speech can be found in Quotes.
Pokémon Shipwreck
This was so shippy, especially when Jesse wouldn't leave James in the burning room and she promised not to abandon him.  You may think that she didn't abandon him because they were friends.  I'm not saying they aren't, because I think Jesse and James have a strong friendship.  There are other things in the episode, though, that hint that it's more than a matter of friendship, like the way Jesse was staring at him, and their conversation in the Quotes section.
Holy Matrimony!
Big controversy over the shippiness of this episode, especially considering that Jesse tried to force James to marry Jezebelle.  Once she actually met Jezebelle, though, she regretted it.  She even showed some early signs of jealousy if you pay attention, like when she called Jezebelle a wimp and got mad at Meowth for comparing the two of them.  The end is unarguably romantic, when James swoops down in the balloon and lifts her up into it.  At the end, they're staring into each other's eyes, so caught up in the moment that they forget Meowth!  And if you look closely at the end, you can see their silhouettes in the balloon... hugging!  The Holy Matrimony! quote is also in Quotes.
Skeptics can visit Cori's Ultimate Rocketshipper Page and read "Rose in a Gilded Vase" by Cori Falls.  If that fan fic doesn't change your mind, nothing can.
Princess vs. Princess
This was the first episode of a new season of Pokémon, and what a way to start the season!  Jesse and Misty both enter a contest for a set of Pokémon Princess dolls on Princess day, a Japanese holiday honoring girls.  Misty had to have her sisters' broken dolls when she was younger, but Jesse was too poor to have any at all.  When she told James about her past, he started crying, grabbed her hands, and told her that he hoped this year would be different for her.  He even let her use Weezing to battle.  How sweet!  ^_^  This episode was must-see for both Rocket and Gakishippers because of the way James and Ash looked at Jesse and Misty when they saw them in their dresses.  Being the bad guy, Jesse lost the dolls to Misty, but James was there to cheer her up-- dressed as a Princess doll.
Bad to the Bone
I always see this episode listed in Rocketshippy episode guides.  At a first glance, it seems like this one is anti-shippy.  After all, Jesse does abandon James to go to the Pokémon League.  But why would Jesse want to steal a second set of badges when eight is all that's required... unless the second set was meant for James?  The fact that James would recognize her from such a distance and in a disguise that covered all but her eyes shows how well he knows her.  Even though she was called "a disgrace to the disgraceful Team Rocket," James instantly took her back.
Meowth Rules
Why would I list this as a shippy episode?  Well, I've seen it asked hundred times:  If J&J got married or anything, what would happen to Meowth?  This episode shows that Team Rocket isn't just a team, they're friends and they would never leave each other.  The friend motto they say is posted in Mottos and Songs.
Wherefore Art Thou Pokémon?
The wedding was fake, but the shippiness isn't.  Jesse had a flashback and said that she would never find anyone to love her because she was too mean and evil, and she broke down crying.  James started patting her hair and saying that love was unfair.  Then Meowth had to call her a nutcase.  Why did she kick them both, though?  Sigh.  James should have admitted right then that he loved her.
The Problem with Paras
Thanks to Jessie for pointing this out on the Sunnytown E-Group.  While Meowth was getting anime eyes over Cassandra, James said he knew just how the kitty felt.  We all know James hated Jezebelle and that he showed no interest in Cassandra for the whole episode and that he'd know Jesse for quite a while... so the only person he could have been talking about is Jesse!  Another thing:  When James said "Cupid's arrow strikes when you least expect it," Jesse hit him with a fan, striking him when he least expected it!  Don't ya just love the symbolism?
GUESS WHAT?
WE WON!!!

The first part of the battle for Rocketshippiness has been won, proving the Cacoshippers WRONG!  In the manga, James reveals that he loves Jesse, and they get a peak into their future, finding out that Jesse eventually gets pregnant and is fired, and James quits and marries her.  And for all the Meowth fans, look at the picture.  Da Top Cat does stay with them!  Now all we need to do is bring official shippiness to the anime.
