As Captain Lee issues his orders, Gerhardt is seen mouthing the the english words as he translates them into german. When he's sure he's got it right he heads off to get his gear together and get his war face on. After a noise check Gerhardt considers himself ready, he has taken about four of everything excluding mines and demolition charges. He rucks two one-shot rockets and one demolitions charge as well., frowning at the weight. Then he
goes to see Captain Lee to find out what the duty roster is for the afternoon.

After the patrol has returned and been everyone has fed, Gerhardt sits through the operation briefing. Still trying to get the commands right, he has a few questions due to his imperfect english.

As the raiders move out, Gerhardt is in position having already checked his radio. He settles in and checks his lines of movement to his alternate positions, then resumes scanning his sector. He moves his head slightly from side to side in an effort to counteract his tendency to get tunnel vision when wearing his NVG, and tries not to fidgit.

The flare goes up and Gerhardt shuts his eyes. As the AN/PVS-7's light gate cuts in he gently raises the goggles so as not to reveal his position, showing his skull painted face. He crouches further behind whatever cover he has, showing only his eyes and scans his sector

Not getting an answer, Ingle starts limping his way towards the town. He's still a good 500-600 meters from the town when the flare goes off, washing out his PVS-4 (starlight scope). He blinks a few times and counts at least a dozen figures rushing towards the patrol, firing. As soon as the flare goes out, Ingle grunts and limps forward as fast as he can, trying to get a shot. He has no trouble picking out muzzle flashes at 250 meters, though the shots are going to be a little more difficult since he can't actually see the target itself.

Ingle sights in on a muzzle flash, estimates the distance to the end of the weapon, and squeezes off a round, with no effect. "Damn" he mutters and begins manuevering for a better shot.

<The four start looking for an escape, when there is a flash, an explosion, and screams of pain! Kartz grabs the stump of what was his right arm and screams in pain, flashing back to one of his many nightmares from Vietnam, only this time, it's not his buddy screaming, it's HIM!!!!>

KARTZ screams in agony...as he watches his arm, or whats left of it pump out its life's blood.

Macleod mutters "Crap!" he reaches down and grabs a couple of smoke grenades and lobs them between the group & the enemy. "Stewart can you get to Kartz?" after throwing the grenades he drops the bipod on his L86 and begins to lay some suppressive fire towards the enemy.

The smoke billows from the smoke grenades, allowing Stewart to reach Kartz. Stewart reaches Kartz and applies a tourniquet, knowing full well that Kartz's chances of survival are very low.

The last thing Kartz remembers is Stewart repeating "you're gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay" before he passes out.

Kartz comes to a few moments later, though unable to do anything due to the intense pain.

<Star changes his angle to catch the enemy soldier on the backside of the ammo dump. Just as Star is about to light up his target, the sky turns bright as day! The entire town is illuminated like noon! The western edge of town erupts in a fury of hell! Sounds of alarm ring through the town and the sounds of vehicles starting and soldiers being organized ring through the town.

Dozens of soldiers are seen moving throughout the town...several heading into the ammo dump!>

LTC Star decides to turn around and head for the UAZ! As soon as he can get Smith's attention, he motions for him to get into the UAZ start it up.

LTC Star tosses a WP Grenade into the Ammo Dump and jumps into the UAZ, screaming "LET'S GET THE HELL OUTTA DODGE! THIS PLACE IS GONNA BLOW!!! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T STOP!!!" LTC Star unslings his G-11 and starts firing it, no need to use the suppressed uzi anymore. Between shots, Star cracks the case of smoke grenades and tosses them behind the UAZ, creating a thick cloud of smoke.

Smith jumps into the UAZ, and hits the ignition switch, praying that it'll start. The starter sounds sluggish for several seconds, then finally catches. As Star jumps in, Smith hammers the pedal, counting on LTC Star to keep the soldiers at bay and running over anything he can get away with, hoping for no obstacles...

The air crackles with the sound of small arms fire, and rounds snap by Star and Smith's head, causing them to ride a little lower in their seats.

Smith's eyes bug out as he spots concertina wire to his front! Recovering, he cranks hard on the wheel, scraping the right side of the UAZ against the wire.

Clear of the wire surrounding the Ammo Dump, Smith speeds past as group of soldiers as Star suppresses them, hitting at least 2 of them in his spray. The response from the rest of the group is a hail of gunfire, some of which strike the UAZ!

Smith hangs a hard right, heading down a street he hopes will get him out of town. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches a truck approaching from the sidestreet. Smith floors it, trying to get every last ounce out of the UAZ. Smith blows past the truck as Star sprays it, and it careens into the building.

Smith and Star clear the edge of town heading for the forest...
