Location: 2km northwest of Ostrzeszow
Time: 0245 21 July 2000
<Captain Lee replies, "My intention is for our patrol; Ikeman, Stewart and Kartz to check out the town
and find a working vehicle with a large fuel capacity. We're going to need to gas up somewhere, I don't think
we have enough time to make our own fuel. They will also check out any defenses and troops. Once said vehicle
has been located we'll return in force to take it under cover of darkness. I think it best to leave our vehicles
here, the Mk-19 has an indirect fire range of about 2 or 3 klicks, so if we move, it will be out of range. If
it looks ok, we'll return around 0400 hours. Ikeman, Stewart and Kartz with Captain Mcleod will take the vehicle.
Myself, Gerhardt, Ingle will provide overwatch and covering fire if necessary. Captain Wolfe will man the Mk-19
and provide fire support.">
The patrol returns and briefs CPT Lee. SFC Ikeman brings up an interesting point, he says "0400 is when the
Soviets expect an attack as it's just before dawn. I suggest that the raid kick off an hour early, at 0300."
CPT Lee looks around and asks "any objections or comments? Going once, twice, three times. We kick off at
0300. Get some rest."
0200 comes, and the raiding party makes their final preparations then move out. At 0245, the patrol is in place,
watching for any major changes in the defense, seeing none, they make their last minute adjustments.
Their watches read 0258, and CPT Mcleod taps the others and signals to move out. The patrol approaches the town
as stealthfully as possible, when they hear a pop and whoosh!
The sky becomes bright as day! The patrol dives to the ground as small arms fire erupts from the edge of the town!
Ikeman keys the radio and screams "CONTACTS DISMOUNTS EAST OUT!!!" The patrol looks in vain for a good
place to take cover, and finally find a small ditch large enough to shelter all three.
Taking stock of the situation, Mcloed, Stewart, and Ikeman realize that they are in a bad situation. To make matters
worse, Ikeman notices blood on Stewart. Stewart checks himself for holes a feels a gash on his left bicep. Ikeman
starts to come off his adreniline rush and starts to grimace in pain, blood is flowing from his right thigh. Kartz
says "are you guys okay? I'm good. We need to get the hell out of here!"
The four start looking for an escape, when there is a flash, an explosion, and screams of pain! Kartz grabs the
stump of what was his right arm and screams in pain, flashing back to one of his many nightmares from Vietnam,
only this time, it's not his buddy screaming, it's HIM!!!!

<Just as Smith finishes throwing the grenades into the UAZ, Star spots another soldier nearing where he waxed
the first soldier on the way in.>
Star moves quickly to dispatch the soldier. The soldier continues on past the body, calling out something in russian
(it sounds something like a name).
Star changes his angle to catch the enemy soldier on the backside of the ammo dump. Just as Star is about to light
up his target, the sky turns bright as day! The entire town is illuminated like noon! The western edge of town
erupts in a fury of hell! Sounds of alarm ring through the town and the sounds of vehicles starting and soldiers
being organized ring through the town.
Dozens of soldiers are seen moving throughout the town...several heading into the ammo dump!
