This bold babe is sure to leave you red in the cheeks with her newest performance, “At First Blush. – Boston Magazine AT FIRST BLUSH is Rochelle Fabb's latest highly visual, absurd and emotional performance about lust and things lost. this solo interdisciplinary performance uses an off kilter humor to explore lust and lost innocence and consider the pros and cons, truths and consequences of feminism, abstinence, flirtation and sexual freedom. The piece establishes an obstacle course of female stereotypes and crashes through them like a demolition derby. The performance features a parade of characters ranging from a depressed majorette to an afflicted abstainer to a very naughty girl. AT FIRST BLUSH pokes fun at everything stereotypically female, from glamour shots to hysterical suicide attempts to adolescent dreams of baton twirling. The intimate production features a hilarious homage sequence to Flashdance and an original soundscore of riffs from: an electrified breast pump, alpha-male driven hip-hop and music your mother might listen to. |
