| PROBABLY THE BEST FIVE FILMS OF 2001 Cameron Crowe's ALMOST FAMOUS was his love letter to music and his family, with a remarkable trademark soundtrack, which brings me to MOULIN ROUGE where Luhrmann, Kidman, McGregor et al take musicals through the roof and also take Paris by storm where AMELIE tries a spot of match-making while appreciating the simple things in life, a Foreign Language hit like CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, which mixed magnificent fight sequences with juxtaposing and tender love stories proving to be a successful epic not unlike THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, where little hobbit Frodo is given the daunting but herioc task of disposing of a magical ring... |
