Robin Duncan

Patrick & Robin     Jonathan          Kramer

I am currently in my Professional Semester at The University of
North Carolina Pembroke.   I am seeking a degree in elementary
education with a concentration in English.  I will be doing my
internship in second grade at Chadbourn Elementary School.
Since I choose English as my concentration, I have had the opportunity
to take many courses that I would not have normally taken.  For
instance, I have taken Advanced Composition, Grammar, Several
Poetry classes as well as Literary Journalism.  Before transferring
to the university I attended Southeast Community College in
Whiteville, North Carolina, graduating with an Associates of
Arts degree.  It has been a struggle to get through school since I have
been a divorced mother of  two beautiful children since 1996 until
getting married to the love of my life in October 2000.  My son, Jonathan
is eleven years old.  He is a honor student and has received several
academic awards.  He plays baseball, football, and is an active member
of  the cub scouts.  My daughter, Kramer is eight years old.  She is also
a honor student, she has won several reading awards, and is a youth
cheerleader.  As you can see I am a proud mother but I can't take all the
credit.  I have a wonderful man in my life.  His name is Patrick and he
a Correctional Officer for the state of North Carolina Department of
Prisons.  Patrick has helped me to become the person that I am.  I met
Patrick the end of  November 1996 and we fell in love.  He has been like
a guardian angel to me.  I always tell him that he is my hero.  He has been
very supportive of me through every thing and he understands the
importance of me completing my education and having my own
identity.  I know that I will be a great teacher.  That is what I have
always wanted.  I can't ever remember wanting to do anything else.  To be
able to make a difference in the life of a child will be so rewarding to me.
I believe that children are the most important people in the world and that
they are our future.  I guess maybe I feel so strong about the importance of
education and the care for children because of the values instilled in me by
my parents. I have learned so much about love and parenting from my
parents, Wayne and Linda Duncan, who have been married for thirty-six
years and are the best parents a child could wish for.  I was raised in a
loving home with two sisters, Katrina and Casey and one brother Robert.
We are all close and love each other very much.
