| Rev. Lawrence Manzer-Born 5 July 1785-Schoharie Co, NY, son of John T. Manzer & Mother Unknown? Farmers of Northampton,NY. When a boy, Lawrence moved to Cherry Valley,Otsego Co,NY. There on 12 Feb 1804, he married Mary Price-Born 16 April 1787, in Vermont, daughter of Timothy Price. Rev. Lawrence fought in the War of 1812. In 1831, The Rev, Mary & their children moved to Jackson,Susq,PA. from Fly Creek,NY. and 5 yrs later they moved to Gibson Twp,Susq,PA. In 1836, the Manzer family bought land from P. Rynearson of some 200 acres, on the Tunkhannock Creek, a mile North of South Gibson,PA. This included the old John Collar improvement. Collar had made one of the earliest clearings on the Creek. Keeping in the bounds of Gibson Twp. he erected a log cabin, a barn and set out a large orchard. In 1841 the Manzer family purchased the adjoining property, and made extensive improvements, Clearing land & in 1843 errected a sawmill & built a dam. Rev Manzewr was member of the old-school Baptist church, and for many years served as minister of the denomination of his neighborhood, at the same time following farming until within a few years of his death. In the 1800 census of Whiting,Addison,VT was Timothy Price, wife,and 7 children. At that time head of the household was the only name printed. Rev Lawrence died 3 Jan 1869 and Mary died 10 Nov 1872, and are buried in the Manzer Cemetery,S.Gibson,Susq,PA. As are many of their children and descendants. The descendants of Lawrence Manzer have been an industrious and frugial people, who have played well their parts in their pursuits of life, Making good citizens and members of society.
