Episode 5

Nazife had to leave last episode... Who will be next?

Day 9
They have to divide themselves into 3 groups: a resourceful team, a smart team and a dumb team. Each team has to get to the hotel. The dumb team is taken there immediately. The smart team gets cryptic clues and the resourceful team gets a van, which doesn't drive anymore. In the back of the van there's a motorcycle, a scooter, inline skates and a skateboard. If they succeed to arrive on time, they win 10.000 gilders, if not they'll lose 10.000 gilders.
Yvonne and Dan try to start the van, but it doesn't work. As they go and look at the engine, they see that the van misses a tire on the backside. They put on a new one.
Sigrid and Nico get a piece of paper with 'Ask Mel' written on it. They laugh. Nico:"Great! Really great!" Sigrid:"And very clear!" Three and a half hours left... They go to the policestation to ask about Mel Gibson and the movie Braveheart.

<Confession: Nico:"We really didn't have any clue who Mel would be, so we decided to go ask it. The policestation seemed to be a good guess. They gave us 2 places where we could find a monument about Braveheart. The first one was the birth place and the second one was at Sterling where the famous battle was fought. The birth place was closest, so we decided to go there.">

The dumb team has reached the hotel. They can try to help the smart team. But Cor and Doortje will get two dilemmas.
Meanwhile,Nico and Sigrid arrive at the birth place of William Wallace. Three hours to go. They search everywhere, but can't find a new clue. Did they guess the wrong place, or did someone deliberatly decide to go to the wrong monument?
Dilemma 1:
If the smart team arrives on time, they can sleep in the hotel and Cor and Doortje have to sleep in the car. If they arrive late, they will have to sleep in the car and the dumb team can sleep in their warm cosy beds.
Cor and Doortje are prepared to sleep in the car to win the money. So they try and help the smart team.
The smart team gets stuck in traffic.
Dan finally finds what was wrong with the van. Yvonne wants Dan to drive. There's 2 and a half hours left. At a petrol station they fill the tires with air. Then they drive off again. Dan:"Where to?" Yvonne:"Drive! To the left! But don't be stessy!" Dan:"No, of course not, honey." Yvonne:"'Cause you are right now!" Then they are silent for a while, but when they look at each other they start laughing. Dan:"Really, if you were my wife, I would have kicked you out a long time ago!"
Cor calls Nico and says they're there to help them. Nico has found a new clue: a tartan and the letters RIP. Cor says he and Doortje will look it up. Nico:"Sigrid, Cor will call us back, and he'll..." Sigrid:"It was Cor? What did he have to say?" Nico:"Euh... I don't know actually..."
At the hotel: Doortje:"How are we supposed to find the tartan if we don't know what it looks like?" Cor:"RIP tartan, he only knows RIP tartan." Dorrtje:"I see..."
Nico and Sigrid ask for help and get to know the tartan has something to do with Rob Roy. Nico:"Cor, can you find the place where Rob Roy McGregor is burried?" Cor:"Wait a minute, Doortje wants to talk to you." Doortje gives him the correct answer.
One and a half hour to go... Nico:"I don't think we're gonna make it."
Meanwhile, Yvonne and Dan are stopped by a policeman. They put on their seatbelts quickly.
Police:"Good afternoon, this is a routine check. Where are you going?"
Dan:"Well... we're in a Dutch television contest and we don't know where we're going."
Police:"Do you have any identification?"
Dan:"No." Yvonne:"The people in the car behind us took our passports, our money, our driving licences..."
Police:"You have no driving licence and no insurance?" Dan:"No." Police:"U don't have any identification at all?"
Yvonne:"No, but you can ask them."
Police to the cameraman:"This is just a routine check. They don't have a driving licence and they say you have it."
Cameraman:"It's not here."
Police to Dan:"So it's a Dutch tv show... this is a British registered car. Do you have insurance for it?"
Dan:"I don't know... I'm sorry, I absolutely don't know." Police:"Who owns the car?" Dan:"I don't know."
Police:"Can you follow me?" Dan:"Sure."
Someone from the production crew steps up:"Can I speak to you?"
Police;"You want to speak to me? Yeah certainly."
They go away and Yvonne says to Dan:"This is not a set-up, this is real!" Dan:"This is TV, man!"
The policeman comes back:I understand it's a Dutch tv program, but I still need to know about the van. We'll have to go to the office to check the registration number." Yvonne takes a look at her watch. Police:"It won't take long, about 15 minutes." Yvonne:"Yeah, but I'm glad you're here, 'cause at this moment I don't know what to think. Either you're real or not." Police:"We'll go to the police station and you'll find out if I'm real or not." They turn right to the police station, but actually, to go to the hotel, they have to go left..........
Dilemma 2
If Cor and Doortje still choose to give wrong information to the smart team, they can earn an exemption.
Cor:"So if we don't give wrong information and they still don't make it..." Angela:"Then you won't have an exemption."
Doortje:"I don't need to think about it, I already know." Cor:"Me too." Doortje:"I'm going for the exemption." Cor:"I'm not." Doortje:"OK, tthen we have ourselves a little problem here." Cor:"Yep." Angela:"How will you solve it?"

<Confession: Cor:"In this case I find Doortje very selfish. She immediately went for the exemption. That means she is only involved with herself" End of confession>

One hour to go. The smart team are at the graveyard. Sigrid:"Did you find anything Nico?" Nico:"No." Sigrid:"I saw a train." Nico:"Where?" Sigrid:"A toy, over there..." There are two trains on a railway that splits in two ways.
Sigrid:"I'm crypto-tired..." Nico:"Crypto-tired?" Sigrid:"I don't know what to do with this. Maybe we have to go to a railway or something." Nico starts looking for a railway on the map. The clue points to a place where the railway splits to the south and to the north.

<Confession: Cor:"The way we could earn an exemption was against my nature. After we talkd about it, I thought 'OK, let's do it, maybe they won't even make it without us', but... I'm not that kind of person." End of confession>

Cor:"We're going for the exemption." Angela:"If it works, we'll raffle the exemption."
Cor:"We'll just say they got more time. You have to say something to get that exemption. If they just don't make it like that, we don't get anything." Doortje:"OK I agree"
Cor calls Nico:"You got more time. I just heard you got half an hour extra on top of the 45 minutes you still have. So please be calm so you don't get an accident or something. If you need more information, just call and we'll help." Nico:"OK!"
Meanwhile, the resourceful team had to leave the keys of the van at the police station, because they couldn't identify themselves neither did they know who was the owner of the van.
Yvonne:"Can we continue on the motorcycle?" Police:"You have a motorcycle? Where?"
Yvonne:"In the back of the van." Police:"Yeah, no problem. Wherever you're going and the competition is finished, I'll have this sorted out."
Dan:"We only have one helmet. We've got to get another one." The nhe asks the police:"Do you know anyone who can give us a helmet? Please help us out!"
Police:"I have no helmet. I don't know anyone who drives a motorcycle." Yvonne:"Is it necessary?" Police:"Yes, by law. You've got to wear a helmet."
Five minutes to go. Dan takes the scooter (like a bike, but you have to push with your foot on the ground) and Yvonne starts the motorcycle. Yvonne pushes Dan with her foot.

<Confession:Dan:"In the rain... on a scooter... driving 50 km/h up the hill, with Yvonne's foot parked on my bottom... It was great, we really laughed. But it was kinda dangerous too, 'cause if I would fall it would be over right there immediately." End of confession>

Nico calls Doortje and Cor:"We have been at the grave and now we're on our way to..." Doortje:"Yeah, but you're out of time!" Nico:"No, we got half an hour extra, right?" Doortje:"Hold on!" She asks Cor whether she will tell the truth. Doortje:"Nico, about the half hour... that wasn't true, so you can come over here now, we're in Oban. And then I have something else for you. The agreement was that if you would make it, Cor and I had to sleep in the car, but if you didn't make it, you had to sleep in the car. So you've got no bed for tonight." Nico:"Oh... great!"
Nico explains to Sigrid that the half hour extra was a lie. Sigrid:"Oh." Nico:"And now we have to go to Oban and we have to sleep in the car." Sigrid:'Yeah right!" Nico:"That's what Doortje said." Sigrid:"Get lost. Where are they gonna sleep?" Nico:"In the hotel, I guess" Sigrid:"Yeah get lost in space, I'm not doing that!"
The resourceful team didn't make it on time. They arrive at the hotel and the dumb team explains what happened.
Dan:"So you have an exemption next execution?" Doortje:"One exemption." Cor:"It will be raffled between the two of us." Dan:"Nice story..."

<Confession: Doortje:"Eventually, I'm here for myself, so if I'm offered an exemption... it already was very clear the smart team wouldn't make it... so the decision was quickly made for me." End of confession>

The smart team arrives too. The betrayal of the dumb team is a great blow to the others.
Yvonne to Sigrid and Nico:"So... tell me."
Sigrid:"I don't feel like telling anything."

<Confession: Sigrid:"It really was a great blow to me with the exemption and the fact that we didn't make it because of it. I didn't feel like talking and neither did Nico." End of confession>

Nico:"I think I would have done the same, but..." Doortje:"But what do you think about it?" Nico:"Well it just was a big surprise, that's all." Cor:"I do find it nice of you to say that everyone would have done the same. No hard feelings."
Sigrid:"So who has the exemption? The both of you?" Doortje:"No, it will be raffled."
Cor:"And now I don't want any discussion! I will sleep in the car!" Doortje:"No, I'm young, I will sleep in the car..."
Cor:"And I'm old, so I will sleep in the car too!"
Angela:"So that's agreed?"
Sigrid:"No, I will go, we'll just go sleep in the car." Doortje:"OK! You know, I'll just go to my nice warm bed, there!"
Yvonne:"Yeah, you just take the easy way out." Doortje:"I just suggested it, and..." Sigrid:"Jeezes what a stupid remark! What a stupid remark!"

<Confession: Yvonne:"She's just a very selfish girl. She has an annoying charactre. She's young and very healthy and then she lets a 61 year-old man sleep in a car. And when the other two say they'll sleep in the car, she will never ever say 'Oh I'll fight for it some more, 'cause if they want to sleep in the car, then why should I?' I can just get really mad about that!" End of confession>

After a lot of discussion, Doortje and Cor go sleep in the car.
Doortje:"It was part of the challenge that if the smart team would be late, they would have to sleep in the car, and if they were on time, we had to sleep in the car. They were late, but they were so tired and shocked about the betrayal, that everyone suggested to sleep in the car out of social consideration. At first I didn't say anything, 'cause I thought if they really want to sleep in the car, just let them. But then I did suggest it one time and then... I could sleep in the car!"
Cor:"Doortje really goes for herself. And apparently I'm more of a team person. I think it's anti-social, but that's what the game is about: sometimes you have to be anti-social, but apparently I always have to think twice about that."

Day 10
Oban
Cor wakes up and gets out of the car. His back hurts.
Doortje, who was sleeping in the other car, wakes up to and she seems to be very cheerful. "I had sacrificed myself and went to sleep in the car. But when I was lying in the car I thougt 'Hmm, this is alright.' I slept very well, but I thought 'The exemption will be raffled later on and you'll see that if I don't stick to the rules of the challenge, the exemption will go straight to Cor' and I didn't feel like that."

High school Oban.
The partners or family members of the contestants have come to Scotland, but the contestants don't know that. They are each taken to a different classroom. One by one they have to go to another room and try to put the correct person with the correct pisture of the contestants in three minutes' time. But for each family member there's a look-a-like. And the contestants don't know who has been before them. They can win 5.000 gilders.

Doortje is first. She puts the people with the pictures. We don't know, whether it's right or not, but I'll give the results. Doortje placed her own mother correct (of course). She also had the correct boyfriend of Nico; Dan's wife; Yvonne's father and Sigrid's boyfriend. She choose the wrong son for Cor...

Sigrid is next. She only changes Doortje's mother with the look-a-like.

Dan is the third one. He puts Sigrid's boyfriend with Cor and the look-a-like with Sigrid. He still has a few seconds left and asks for a close-up of his own wife, to admire her.

Cor is next. Angela:"Who's not at the right place?" Cor:"Did they put them this way? Then I agree!" Angela:"They're all correct?" Cor:"Yep, they're all correct." (But actually his own son isn't even correct) Cor keeps looking at the monitor. He asks for a close-up of the person with his picture. Cor:"No, that's the wrong guy." Angela:"Yeah, I thought you needed new glasses." He puts his own son correct and also changes the look-a-like of Doortje's mother with the real mother.

Nico:"OK, Michel is correct, that's clear." He changes Cor's son with the look-a-like. He also changes Yvonne's father with the look-a-like. "Cause I don't think Yvonne's father wouldn't be so small." But the look-a-like is as small as the real father!

Yvonne is the final one. She puts her father correct.

The game is played... They started with Doortje who had 5 out of 6 correct. But they ended with Yvonne, who got 4 out of 6. So they didn't make it. But they can see their family members now.

They interview the family members:

Cor's son:"My father absolutely doesn't like it when people aren't working together to reach the same goal. If everyone finds their own things more important, he'll get really mad. He has a lot ofrespect for what you do. He also has a lot of respect for what I do. I love him a lot." Cor starts crying.

Dan's wife:"He's a very sweet guy. Kind of diplomatic sometimes, but I like that."

Sigrid's boyfriend:"I'm really proud of what she did. Certainly when I heard she went abseiling, because she's afraid of heights."

Doortje's mother:"She is very social. In many cases she will think of other people first."
Doortje:"I think I'm a little more selfish than my mother thinks I am. I think about myself a lot, for my own interest. I find myself rather important and I choose for myself a lot."

Yvonne's father:"At first, I thought that Yvonne would think I would never come. They can offer me a trip to Spain or Italy and even pay me 1.000 gilders, I will never go on holiday."
Yvonne:"It's a victory for me that my father's here, because I think he evens knows me better than my mother does."
Yvonne's father:"I'm really proud of my daughter." Yvonne starts crying.

Doortje's mother:"I think she would really like it if she could go straight to the end."
Doortje:"Just make that winning."
Doortje's mother:"Yeah... til the end and then win of course."

Dan's wife:"I hope Dan will win the game, of course."

Nico's boyfriend:"I really trust him about that. He is someone who waits to see which way the cat jumps, so he can observe people. He can use that time to find that mole!"

Suspicions
Dan:"My suspicion towards Nico has weakened. I'm starting to look at other people. I'm going to vote for Yvonne."
Sigrid:"I'm starting to doubt again. Yeah... Dan maybe. Flashback episode 2 Dan is not the leader with the raft building, but does want to control some things. episode 4 In the car during the balloon challenge, he takes the map out of Cor's hands. He always wants to take control in the challenges. During the abseiling I already said that there was a possibility that Dan would have stayed in the game anyway. He could have had the money on forehand."
Yvonne:"Last time I voted for Nico for the first time and it turned out OK."
Nico:"I still think it's Sigrid. She's very clever and still didn't take initiative yesterday. She didn't want to drive the car, nor read the map. Flashback Sigrid:"I'm crypto-tired." Nico:"Crypto-tired?" Sigrid:"I don't know what to do with this." In the car:"Yeah, get lost in space, I'm not doing that!" I had to do all the work. She was on top of my list and she still is."
Doortje:"I suspected Nazife too. And for the rest no one did anything to suspect him or her. If I have to choose someone I go for Dan."
Cor:"I still see Dan as a possibility, Yvonne and Nico. From Doortje I said from the beginning she's not the Mole. And Sigrid... nah impossible! I hope I have the exemption, because that will make it a lot easier."

Suspicious
Yvonne and Dan didn't make it on time to the hotel, but they got stalled by the police.
Nico and Sigrid didn't make it on time either, but they got betrayed by Doortje and Cor.
Doortje immediately wanted to go for the exemption.
No one could put the right family member with the right picture.

Family opinion
Cor's son:"Could Cor be the Mole? Yeah, and then he's fooling me too!"
Nico's boyfriend:"If I would be the producer of this show, I would choose someone who would be very social in the first place and who would really feel good in the group and seek contact with a lot of people in the group. And Nico is not that kind of person, so I think he would be suspicious real soon if he were the Mole."
Yvonne's father:"She is capable of being the Mole. But I don't know."
Sigrid's boyfriend:"I think Sigrid would tell me if she was the Mole. (Sigrid looks at him in an indignant way) and I would never ask her, so maybe she could resist to tell it this time. So there is a possibility she is the Mole, but I don't think so."
Cor's son:"If he really is the Mole? I don't think so!"

Execution
The contestants sit down and wait anxiously. We hear their voices, and it becomes clear that there are small groups in the group:
Yvonne:"I think it would be better for the group if either Dan or me, or Doortje or Sigrid had to go. If Cor leaves, we would get two group with Nico in between them."
Doortje:"I wouldn't like to see Sigrid leave."
Dan:"Who can go? Everyone except for Yvonne."
Cor:"Whoever goes, I'd rather have the person leave who I like most than that I have to go. Yep, we're here to win..."
Angela shows up and says the exemption still has to be raffled. Heads or tails? Doortje immediately says heads. Cor agrees. Angela flips the coin and it's.....heads. So Doortje gets the exemption. But now who has to go? Click and see:
