Belgian Mole (part 2)
Episode 7
David had to go. The group found he had changed during the episodes. In the beginning they didn't really like him, but he changed because of the group. They were sad he had to go.
Day 16
For the next challenge they need to appoint someone who is good
at improvising and who knows other languages than Dutch. Carine
volunteers, but she doubts. "I know French and German. Is that
enough?" Michiel:"You know where we are..." (They're
in Spain in case you didn't know) Carine says Marianne has to go,
because she doesn't speak Spanish and Marianne does a little. Marianne
has to be a guide for an entire bus of tourists. The challenge succeeds when she
gets as much money as a normal guide. She has to let the tourists sing 2 times,
make them laugh 2 times and she has to tell 3 big lies. She is being filmed by
hidden cameras and by some members of the production crew, who are dressed as
tourists with an amateur camera. The bus arrives late at the hotel, so the
tourists aren't very glad. But Marianne apologizes and she says she will
tell them things that aren't in the travel guides. That way she can tell lies of
course. The ride is very silent. Marianne doesn't say much and the
tourists aren't very satisfied. We hear a lady:"She doesn't say much,
does she? It's obvioussly a new one." But then Marianne tells
them a joke. (It's a Dutch joke, so I can't explain it) A bit later she tells
her first lie. "We are passing a village, and the name of that village
is..." the microphone starts squeaking "Hello?" The
tourists answer her, so they can hear her. "This village is called San
Miguel. A long time ago, a boy called Miguel lived there and when he was a
little boy, he lost his right arm. If he went to church he had to make the sign
of a cross with his left arm. And out of respect for Miguel, from then on, the
entire village made the sign of a cross with their left arm." And she
says it's the driver's birthday today, so she asks them to sing for him. Now she
only has to make them laugh and sing 1 time and she has to tell a lie 2 times.
When she's walking through town with the group a few minutes later, they see two
flags. A tourist:"That's the flag of Spain, right?" Marianne:"Yes
it is." The lady we heard earlier:"And the other one?"
Marianne says it's from Andalucia and she raises her eyebrows to the
cameraman, indicating she just took a wild guess. The lady:"Oh yeah, of
course." Then Marianne tells her next lie:"Do you know
Boudewijn and Fabiola (the former king and queen from Belgium) Well, this
is where they first kissed each other. Over there on that bridge." And
when they are in some kind of temple, she says:"Actually there was a
Flemmish architect involved in the building of this temple. But you won't find
that in any travel guide." The same lady:"And what was his
name?" "Cornelius Devlieger." This is funny, because
the show's host is called Michiel Devlieger. The tourists don't have a clue that
she's fake. And they don't notice the fake tourists who are filming every move
she makes. When they're back on the bus, Marianne tells another joke and
a woman comes to sing a song for her. If she gets enough money now, she wins
50.000 BEF. She passes her hat around and she gathers almost double of the
money a normal guide would have. So she wins the challenge. Afterwards she says
she has been the Mole for 12 hours in a bus full of Belgian tourists. Those
tourists get to know what happened to. Luckily they can laugh about it.
The others have had another challenge that day. They have to go to a hotel where
they only speak Spanish. Every contestant is taken to a different room on a
different floor. They are locked up. They get 90 minutes to get out and come to
the reception. In every room there's information to get the other one out. They
can call each other, but then they have to find out in which room the others are
locked up. Carine is in a room with a pc and a lot of locked cases and
safes. Hugo is in a dark room. But we can see him because of an infrared
camera. Niki has a room with 2 hometrainers, a tv and the movie 'Psycho'.
When Niki cycles on one of the hometrainers, a blacklight lights Hugo's
room. They start to investigate their rooms. Carine can get something out
of a case with chains around it. Because the chains aren't very tight, she can
open the case a bit and like that she gets a note with '2018' on it. She tries
it on the safe, but it doesn't work. Niki is watching 'Psycho' (the movie
where someone gets killed under the shower) She goes to the bathroom. There's a
camera in the shower, so we can see the code '1747' on the shower curtain. But
it's on the inside, so Niki can't see it yet. She opens the curtain and
looks around. She doesn't see the code. Carine calls the reception and
tries to ask the number of Niki's room. But they don't understand
her. And she doesn't really understand them. Niki starts cycling on a
hometrainer. Because of that, a synthesizer starts playing in Hugo's
room. So with one hometrainer, she provides electricity for the synthesizer and
with the other one she lights the blacklight. When the blacklight burns, Hugo
can see some information on the walls, like GO TO JUAN PALOMO; NIKI IS THE MOLE;
MARIANNE IS THE MOLE; 29 AUGUST with an arrow before it, pointing to 00; HUGO IS
THE MOLE,.... Carine can find out Niki's phone number and calls
her. Niki stops cycling, because she has to answer the phone. So the
blacklight in Hugo's room goes off. Niki tells Carine she
thinks she has to cycle 1139 km. Carine says that's impossible. Meanwhile
Hugo calls to the reception and says he doesn't have electricity in his
room. He also asks Niki's phone number. Niki:"There's a
towel, shower cream and deodorant on my bed. Maybe if I take a shower,..." Carine
laughs. "Can you tell me what kind of codes you have there, because I
have a lot of cases and safes here and they're all locked." Hugo
tries to contact Nikibut of course he can't reach her, because she's on
the phone with Carine. Hugo:"Come on girls, stop
talking."
Niki:"I'll just cycle a bit and watch the movie." Hugo
gives up and hangs up the phone. He immediately gets a call from Carine. Hugo:"Did
you find Niki yet?" Niki starts cycling again. Hugo:"Because
it's very..." The blacklight starts burning again. Hugo:"Well,
it WAS very dark in here, but now I have light. Can you write some information
down for me?" He gives her the 'GO TO PALOMO' clue and the '29 AUGUST
with an arrow pointing to 00' He thinks this must be something like 0029 August
or just 00298. The light goes off again. Hugo:"Can you wait a
moment. There's a synthesizer here and when I knocked on it earlier, the light
went on again." 58 minutes left. Niki turns on the water faucet
in the shower. But she doesn't close the curtain, so she can't see the code.
Meanwhile Carine could open the safe with the '002908' code. There's a
piece of paper with musical notes on it and a tape. On the tape there is a
melody, but it's distorted. Hugo and Niki trade information with
each other. They get to know that when Niki cycles one of her bikes, Hugo
has light. But they don't know which bike. So Niki starts cycling. "Just
let me know when you have light." And she puts the horn on a pillow. Hugo
has light and starts yelling through the phone. But Niki keeps on cycling
and she doesn't hear him. Hugo gives up. Carine calls him and she
gives him the musical notes. But he can't play them, because the synthesizer has
no electricity, because Niki is cycling on the bike that gives light to Hugo.
She stops cycling to get to the phone to listen if Hugo's still there,
but of course he isn't. Hugo calls Niki to ask if she can cycle
both bikes at the same time. Hugo can play the song 'Father Jacob' on the
synthesizer and suddenly his door opens. He calls Carine to tell her he's
out and he runs to the reception, where he asks where he can find Juan Palomo.
They give him a pie. Meanwhile Carine tries the pc on her room. But
that's just a diversion. 21 minutes and 21 seconds left. Niki goes to the
shower again. She takes the curtain and looks at it. She still doesn't see the
code. Carine calls Niki. Niki:"We only have 15
minutes left. I'll just go take a shower, because there's nothing else I can
do." Hugo finds a new code in the pie. He wants to call Carine,
but she's on the phone with Niki. Carine:"My mini-bar has
to open, because there's a tube on my door with 'Alcohol only' on it." Hugo
can't reach them and gets frustrated a little. Niki:"On the movie
there's the scene where someone gets killed under the shower." Carine:"OK,
then you just take a shower, you never know if your door will open." Niki
goes to the shower. She steps in it and lets the water run. She closes the
curtain a little bit. She still doesn't notice the code. She looks at the black
spot (of the number 7). But she doesn't see it. She closes it and opens it
again. It seems like she did see something now, because very quickly she closes
it again and finally sees the code. Meanwhile we hear the music of 'Psycho'.
She opens the door and runs out of her room. Hugo calls Carine and
gives her the code. 9 minutes 34 seconds left. Carine can open the
mini-bar and fills the tube with alcohol. Her door opens and she notifies Hugo
about it. 5 minutes 43 seconds. Niki and Carine meet each other at
the reception desk and they are very happy and hug each other. But then Carine
asks where Hugo is. The challenge succeeds when all three of them are
at the reception desk on time. Hugo is trying to call Niki. "She
doesn't answer... Could she be gone already?" 3 minutes and 39
seconds... Carine doesn't answer the phone either. Carine and Niki
ask the reception if they can use their phone. Hugo:"They ran
away without notifying me!" He runs away. 1 minute and 5 seconds... Carine
calls Hugo, but he doesn't answer, because he's on his way to the
reception desk. He takes the lift and arrives at 9 seconds to spare. "Why
didn't you tell me anything? I didn't know Niki was out of her room!"
They won 100.000 BEF. They now have a total of 970.000 BEF. Tomorrow
they have the final execution and one challenge. What would they do if they
could win an exemption tomorrow?
Carine:"Tomorrow I will go for it. And I really hope it won't be
against the group, but I'll go for it."
Marianne:"If there's an exemption, even if it is against the
group, I will go for it."
Niki:"Yes, I would go for it, tomorrow I will. If you don't
go for it tomorrow, you're puting yourself at risk."
Hugo:"Sorry, but to get to the finale I have to take it.
That's the game."
Day 18
The contestants have to write down who they would most like to be
eliminated that evening. They have to make a top 3, with on the first place the
person they would mostly want to see leaving the group. They gather it in an
urn. The person who they want least to go home, has to play an important role
and the others have to trust him/her. It's Niki. She is taken to a
deserted gold mine. She can earn an exemption today. She has to convince the
others to do a rather unpleasant challenge.
If 2 of the 3 do their challenge, they win 150.000 BEF.
If all three do it, they have the money and Niki has an exemption.
If nobody does it, Niki has an exemption.
If only one person does it, that person will have the exemption.
The others are taken to a deserted mine, not far away from where Niki is.
Michiel tells Niki the challenges the others have to do.
1) Be a candidate in a knife throwing act.
2) Walk over hot coal.
3) Walk over a girder over a ravine, blindfolded.
Niki has to chose who has to do which challenge. She decides Hugo
has to do the first one. He is blindfolded and taken to the place. Marianne
and Carine are left behind. Niki explains Hugo he has to
stand against a door and a knife thrower will throw a knife to the left or the
right of his head. Hugo decides to do it. He's still blindfolded. He
stands against the door. A knife is planted next to his head. Hugo
screams. So it isn't thrown. Niki congratulates him. Hugo doesn't
know his challenge was fake, so he can't tell the others. Marianne has to
walk over the hot coals. But Hugo is left with Carine. Hugo:"So
what do you think about Niki? Will she choose for the group?"
Carine:"I don't want to talk about it, because everybody can
be lying. I'm the last one and I'll decide for myself if I'll do it or
not."
Hugo:"Maybe that's smart, 'cause after all, the Mole can play
games. Niki can also choose for herself."
Carine:'You can tell me whatever you want."
Hugo:"But whe can also choose for herself and the
group."
Carine:"Of course."
Marianne's challenge is fake too. But she doesn't know it. And they
do everything to make her believe it is real. There are hot coals on the ground.
So she can feel the heat (she's blindfolded). She decides to do it. Niki
says:"OK I'll count to three and..." Marianne:"Wow
wait, don't I have to prepare or anything?" Niki waits a little
and then Marianne's ready. Niki counts to three and she runs along
with Marianne. When she's done, Marianne says it wasn't hot at
all. Niki:"See? I told you so!" She can take the
blindfold off and sees that she just ran over normal coals, which weren't on
fire. Marianne:"That's why I didn't feel anything!" So
the group has the money. But if Niki wants the exemption, she has to
convince Carine too. And Carine's challenge on the contrary to the
others, is real. She has to walk over a girder over a ravine. Niki has to
guide her. Carine decides to do it. There is a difficult point where Carine
has to step on another girder to come back. She takes a few steps, but then
there is a strong gust of wind. She shakes a little to the left and the right,
but then balances herself again. Carine:'Niki, this isn't too
dangerous, is it? With that wind!" Niki:"No no, I'm
right here!" Marianne and Hugo are watching from a
distance. It's very exciting. When Carine is at the point where she has
to step on the other girder, Niki tells her to wait, because she has to
go to the next floor, where Carine has to arrive. Meanwhile Hugo
says to Marianne:"She should tell her that the girder is very
big, so she would be at ease." Carine has to bend a little to
reach the room through a window. (It used to be a window, because it was a
deserted gold mine) Carine gets very nervous because she doesn't know
where she is. Then suddenly Niki congratulates her and everybody's happy.
They have 150.000 BEF and Niki has an exemption.
Suspicions
Hugo:"Everybody had to decide for himself today. Shall I
do it or not? And there was an exemption."
Marianne:"Niki and her exemption... I don't mind it. I really
wanted to have it too, but I haven't got any problems with it, that Niki has it
now. Strange isn't it?"
Carine:"I wanted to have that exemption too, but fate decided
it had to be Niki and I really don't mind."
Niki:"In a way, it's thanks to the others that I have the
exemption. "
Hugo:"I think we're in a stage where the Mole has to be
carefull. It was very difficult to sabotage anything today."
Marianne:'There's less people and we have to watch out. The Mole
will have it easier with individual challenges."
Suspicious for the viewers:
It took Niki a long time before she found the code. She didn't notify
the others that she was out.
It took Hugo a while to understand that Niki was already.
