Episode 6
Eef had to leave the group. She didn't think
she had to go. She thought she guessed right.
Day 14
The contestants say goodbye to their family members and ask them
to say hello to Eef if they see her.
This day there will be 2 challenges for the group. For the first challenge they
need two people who are creative and artistic. That's David and Niki.
They have to make a modern work of art. Later that day their piece will be
displayed at a museum. An art expert will visit the museum and if he doesn't
guess which work of art is made by them, they win 50.000 BEF. They get to
see the museum first, where they find things like nails put in a cake, chairs
standing with the backs to each other, connected with interrupted lines, nails
on a typewriter, an apartment building made of bricks,...
Hugo, Carine and Marianne practise skid-control. A driving
instructor will teach one of them. Then that contestant has to teach it to the
next one, who will have to teach it to the last one. If they can drive a car at
35 km/h over a wet course, avoiding two obstacles in two and a half hours, they
win 100.000 BEF. Marianne tries first. She listens to the
instructor, but doesn't manage to avoid the obstacles. She tries again and
again. After one hour she quits and let's Hugo try.
Meanwhile, David and Niki are trying to think of something to make
an work of art about. They get a workshop where they can find everything they
need. Niki wants to make something, that's called 'The eternal deception'
(an arrow pointing up, pointing to nothing). But they decide to make something
else. We see David placing a torso, some books and a pair of shoes on the
ground. He also breaks some glass. Niki is making a pair of glasses from
iron wire. After a while she has it finished, but then David says he
thinks the art expert will recognize their art of work, because of the glasses,
which look rather unprofessional. They decide to go and buy a real pair of
glasses. Their piece is finished. It's a torso with a chain around the neck and
the glasses on the chain. Besides the torso there are some books and before it
there are piles of broken glass. Behind the piles there are shoes. David
explains the meaning of their work of art:"The main idea is the problem,
which actually isn't a problem. The man (=the torso) is
intelligent, because of the glasses and the wisdom of the books. It seems like
he has a problem, because he sees the shoes behind the piles of broken glass. So
he wants to have those shoes, but there's glass everywhere. He doesn't have
shoes, so it would hurt to get the shoes on the other side of the broken glass.
But actually, he doesn't have feet, so why would he have to go over there? He
doesn't need shoes, because he doesn't have feet. So actually, there is no
problem." The art expert arrives at the museum. He says he feels
something with every work of art, except for... David and Niki's
work! He guesses it right, so they don't win any money.
Meanwhile Hugo manages to drive at 35 km/h over the track, avoiding the
obstacles. The driving instructor says Hugo followed everything he said
and Marianne didn't. Marianne:"Yes, I'm a bit
stubborn..." Now Hugo has to teach it to Carine. But Carine
can't get it right. Marianne tries again. But again it doesn't work. They
skid a lot. Marianne gets frustrated after a while and starts screaming,
while knocking on the steering wheel, and Hugo too gets frustrated and
yells:"Sh*t!" Their time's up, they didn't win the 100.000 BEF.
Hugo was the only one who had done it correctly.
That evening Hugo, Carine and Marianne go
to the museum. They have to guess which work of art wasmade by Niki and David.
They look at all the pieces. When they see the piece David and Niki
made, Marianne says:"This is not made by a heterosexual!"
With the apartment building Carine says she thinks it would be too
simple. After a while they doubt between the cake with the nails, the torso (David
and Niki's piece) and the apartment building. Carine finally
thinks it's the torso, but Hugo and Marianne think it's the
apartment building. They are discussing it, but then Michiel says he has to get
an answer. Marianne says they'll go for the apartment building. Hugo
agrees. David and Niki are called. Michiel says the apartment
building was chosen. David and Niki say it's not right and they
point to the torso they made. Carine gets angry. She blames Hugo and
Marianne for not following her opinion.
That evening:
Marianne:"Carine was angry! She put up with the rest. If she had
expressed her opinion more I would have followed her."
Carine:"In the library it was mostly Hugo who was leading the
discussion."
But Hugo managed to do the skid-control challenge, which Carine and
Marianne couldn't.
David:"The skid-control... Carine didn't succeed... Marianne
didn't succeed either..."
Hugo:"If you really want to sabotage, that would have been
the perfect challenge. Marianne got the instructions from the driving instructor
himself, so she had to perform better."
Besides thes suspicions, Niki says she had a nice day with David.
The group likes David more now. He has changed.
Day 15
That morning they can interview each other. Each contestant can
choose one other contestant he/she would like to interview. Carine wants
to interview Hugo. Hugo interviews Niki, who will interview
Marianne. Marianne and David will interview each other:
David:"Marianne, who do you think is the Mole?"
Marianne:"Everybody..."
Hugo:"Are you the Mole?" Niki:"No."
Hugo:"Then who is?" Niki:"I don't
know, but I hope I'll know it tonight."
Carine asks Hugo the questions they got on their
questionnaires.
Marianne:"How sure are you of your choice of the Mole?" David:"80
% sure." Marianne:"And who gets that 80 %?" David:"Carine."
Niki:"Did you ever suspect me?" Marianne:"Everyone..."
Niki:"But have you already chosen me?" Marianne:"Everyone...
In the beginning I thought everybody was a Mole and I was the only normal person
around." Niki:"Will you choose a male or a female Mole
tonight?" Marianne:"I hope I'll choose the right
one."
Nobody really lets the others know much.
They drive up a hill for their new challenge. They arrive at a
Hacienda (a spanish word for a big house or something). They have to guard that
Hacienda, because it will be attacked that night. There is a glass bowl filled
with blue water on a stand in the inner court of the Hacienda. It stand ini the
light of two spotlights. They have to guard that bowl. If there's no light on
it, or it has been broken, the challenge is lost. They can win 100.000 BEF
if they manage to guard it till sunrise. They get paintball guns to shoot at the
attackers. The attackers don't have weapons. They also get some junk to
barricade things. Hugo wants to put some of it on the stairs, so the
attackers can't easily use the stairs. But they also have to make sure the
cables of the spots are protected and the plugs of it, which is in the stable.
They divide the group and everybody takes a position. Marianne and Carine
trade places, because Carine doesn't want to be near the dog. They
still have some time to practise with the paintball guns. At 6.30 pm, the
attackers arrive. The helicopter lands a few metres away, where the attackers
hide in a tent. It gets dark. The spotlights are turned on. It's 10.00 pm. The
game begins. Marianne is guarding the front, Hugo on the tower in
the back with a big searchlight to look in the fields. Carine is guarding
on the side and David guards the cables and the plugs at the stable. Niki
is at the inner court, next to the bowl.
Suddenly the dog barks and Carine asks Hugo to light around her
area. The contestants can communicate via two way radio. A few minutes later, Marianne
says:"Hugo, can you hear us?" Carine:"Hugo isn't
lighting my area anymore either."
David:"I have a funny problem. I put some hay on the plugs
and the cables to cover it, but now the horses are eating the hay!"
It's midnight. Hugo:"They are just trying to keep us busy.
Trying to exhaust us. And in an hour or so, they will try again."
1.00 am. The attackers are getting ready. They have seen the Hacienda before
and they drew up a plan. They also have some special diversion techniques. In
addition they get information about the positions the contestants have taken.
And that
information is disclosed by the Mole! In the bathroom of the Hacienda, there is
a secret means of communication with the attackers. We see every contestant in
the bathroom. Then we hear a distorted voice and the screen is blurred:"I
can tell you that there is someone at the front, someone at the back, but also
someone at the stable. So the plugs and the cables are guarded too. And yes, the
searchlight on the backside is used too. So there's someone there too." Here
you can see an animated GIF, Putchar made, trying to filter the images. In
another Woestijnvis show, he admitted he only took the two different images and
put them together. But it's still possible this person is the Mole.
1.35 am: the attack begins. Hugo catches someone in the light of the
searchlight and warns Carine. One of the attackers has reached the
stables. He tells his companions that someone (= David) is blocking the
entrance. David:"Carine, someone just went in the barn, so he's
trapped. Can you please guard a piece of my area too?" The
attacker:"Ok, he thinks we're in the barn." Suddenly there is a
lot of firework. David:"Don't look at the fireworks! It's a
diversion! Don't look at it!"
We then hear an engine. It's a quad. Carine wonders whether that is
allowed. Hugo catches him in the light of the searchlight and shoots at
him, but he misses. Then there is a jeep honking the horn.
David:"Hugo, they al got so close now that your position isn't
needed anymore. So I suggest you come down and shoot some guys here." Hugo:"I
want to, but then the entire back isn't guarded anymore, so it will be easy to
infiltrate." David:"That doesn't matter, 'cause if
everybody remains at his position, then..." We can't hear the rest,
because there is more fireworks. The jeep drives along the Hacienda. Marianne
or Carine shoots at the driver, but he ducks and manages to escape. David:"Hugo,
come down, we really need you. Hugo, come down. Hugo, can you hear me?!"
Finally Hugo reluctantly leaves his position, but the group wants him
to. Now the back is not lighted anymore. One of the attackers has seen that.
2.15 am: attacker:"The tower is unmanned. There's a lot of light, but
it's unmanned. I'm going to climb up and until then you won't hear me."
And he climbs up the wall. It's very silent outside. Tension is rising. The
attacker has reached the top. "I'm not going to rappel as we planned to,
because there's no one here and I can simply take the stairs." It's the
stairs inside the Hacienda. The one outside was blocked with the junk. He's
going down the stairs very quietly. "Ok, I'm down and I'm at 5 metres of
the bowl. You can start make noise for the diversion."
The attackers start yelling and honking the horn of the jeep. Carine,
David, Marianne and Hugo run to them to shoot at them. Niki
(in the inner court) is looking up at the roof. She doesn't know that the
attacker is standing at the door behind her. She's looking around and then she
goes to a small alley, which is the entrance of the Hacienda. This is the
opportunity for the attacker. He opens the door, runs to the bowl and knocks it
over. GAME OVER!! The others ask what happened. Niki:"I came here
to light some more and then he jumped from that roof." Strangely, the
attacker didn't jump from any roof. He just came through the door. The leaving
of the tower has been crucial for the loss of the challenge.
Suspicions
David:"I made a mistake by asking Hugo to come down to
help us. It wasn't very smart of me."
Niki:"I'm also partly to blame for the loss, because I didn't
pay attention."
Marianne:"Hugo actually didn't want to leave his post, but we
wanted him to come down, because there were so many attackers."
Hugo:"We have had too many defeats. It's not that you're here
to win money, but it is fun to win from time to time."
Carine:"I don't know who it is. I felt I had to choose
between Hugo and Marianne and I chose Hugo."
Suspicious for the viewers:
Niki wanted to call her work of art 'The eternal deception'. Was
it a secret clue?
Marianne and Carine couldn't skid the car correctly.
Marianne and Hugo guessed the wrong work of art. Carine didn't
express her opinion.
David wanted Hugo to leave his position.
Hugo left his position although he didn't really want to.
Niki left her position, so that the bowl could be knocked over.
