Episode 5
Dominiek had to leave. He couldn't believe how much money he threw away. If only
he had chosen the cheque...
Day 11
It's morning. We see a shot of a note hanging upside down on the
door. It says: 'THE MOLE CAN CRY TO!!!!'
Then we see a shot of Hugo swimming in the pool. Carine is the
first one to notice the note. She reads it out loud and then looks at the camera
and starts laughing nervously.
They have a total amount of 570.000 BEF in the kitty. Tomorrow they will
finally see someone from their family. But today they have to do another
challenge. They have to split up in three teams. One team must be skilful,
another team must be smart and the other team is stupid. The skilful team is Hugo
and Marianne, the smart team Eef and David and the stupid
team Carine and Niki. The teams have to find the hotel they are
staying at that night. They have until 8.00 pm to find it. If all the teams find
the hotel in time, they'll win 50.000 BEF. The group that can't find the
hotel must find a place to sleep themselves. Michiel:"We can't take any
risks, so we take the stupid team to the hotel straight away." So Niki
and Carine are taken to te hotel.
Hugo and Marianne find a van with an envelope on it. In the
envelope are pictures of the route they have to follow. In the van there are
lots of things, like a motorbike, a bike, a skateboard and even some chickens!
They have to put the tires on the van to get started. But nothing of the things
they got, is working properly.
Eef and David get a cassette. They hear that they have to drive to
Algar to find the village idiot at the town hall.
Meanwhile Michiel tells Carine and Niki:"Of course you
aren't stupid. You can even be the smartest today. If you can deceive the smart
team so that they don't arrive here, you'll win 200.000 BEF instead of
50.000 BEF. But then the skilful team must still get here in time."
They decide do deceive the smart team. They get a book where they can find the
answers of the questions Eef and David get. Niki calls Eef
to tell her they are there to help them. David tells them to wait a while,
because they still have to drive to Algar. They will phone back if they're
there.
Hugo is driving very fast on a bumpy road. The suspension of the van
isn't that great, so he and Marianne are shaken from one side to the
other. Marianne starts screaming. After a while it's calmed down and Marianne
says:"This challenge will work out fine, right?" Hugo:"It
depends what you mean with that. I'll always follow you, because you can be the
Mole too!". Then the van breaks down. All the things they have aren't
ok. They continue by motorbike and bike. Behind the bike they tied a cart with
the other stuff in it. Marianne (on the motorbike) pulls Hugo (on
bike) up a hill with a rope. But again some things go wrong. The chain of the
bike falls off. They fix it and a few moments later the cart comes off and bangs
against the rail.
The smart team has reached Algar and they find the village idiot, who gives them
a question: When was the chapel of the virgin of Guadelupe built? (a)1764
(b)1772 (c)1784. Each answer leads to another village. The village idiot will be
waiting for them in the correct village. They call Niki and Carine
and tell them the question. They look it up and see the correct answer, but they
deliberatley gave the false answer to Eef and David. So they drive
to the wrong village. When they arrive there, they can't find the man. Eef
thinks they are in the wrong village, because the village idiot would always be
at the town hall. David doesn't understand it, because Niki and Carine
had confirmed the answer. He can't use his cell-phone from where he is now,
so he asks someone if he can call to Niki and Carine.
David:"We're in the wrong place."
Niki:"What do you mean, you're at the wrong place?"
David:"That man isn't here, so I want a check-up to see if
the answer you gave was correct. I want you to check that year again and I also
want Carine to confirm it."
Carine confirms everything and hands the horn back to Niki.
Now Niki tells them the year is 1764. David:"So how come
you just told me it was 1784?" Carine:"Niki, how's that
possible?" David:"OK I know enough!"
Eef doesn't understand it and asks David why they said it was
1784 and way they say it's 1764 now. David tells her one of them must be
lying.
Meanwhile we see that Marianne's motorbike breaks down. She can't fix it
anymore. Hugo goes past her on his bike. He goes downhill. But when Marianne
gets at the end of the hill, she sees the bike lying in a ditch with the cart
and all. The chain went of it and Hugo couldn't hold it anymore. So he
continues on foot and Marianne on skateboard. Hugo runs very fast.
Marianne:"Hugo, calm down a little!" Then she starts
thinking about the challenge. If she doesn't make it on time she must sleep
outside. "I hope we get there before 8 o'clock or I'll go crazy!"
Eef and David arrive in Arcos de la Frontera. They try to find
the village idiot. But they can't find him. It's 7.42 pm. David:"We're
in the right place, but we're too late."
Niki is waiting anxiously outside the hotel. "I just called
Eef and David. They're in Arcos de la Frontera. They won't make it on time
anymore. Let's just hope the others will." So Niki and Carine's
plan worked, they could deceive David and Eef. But the
200.000 BEF now depends from the handy group. Hugo is far ahead of Marianne.
Niki runs towards them. They think they've already reached the hotel, but
Niki ran a long way to support them on the last meters. She tells Marianne
and Hugo to just leave the stuff (the cart and the skateboard) behind and
run. It's 7.55 pm. Five minutes left. Hugo runs very fast. Marianne
can't keep up and starts coughing. She stops to get some air. 7.57 pm. Hugo:"Come
on, Marianne, hurry!" Marianne:"Yeah yeah, wait a
second!" They finally reach the hotel at 7.58 pm. They win
200.000 BEF. Carine calls David to explain everything. He and
Eef don't mind sleeping in the car for 200.000 BEF.
Day 12
David and Eef arrive at the hotel in the morning. Together
they have breakfast. Michiel:"There's some good news, because you'll
finally see someone of your family again today. But you'll have to wait a
little, 'cause you'll have to play for it." Everybody sighs. They
thought they would just have a nice day with their family, but they have to win
the challenge first. They have to play blackjack. Everyone gets 4 passes. In
each game they have to stake one pass. For every pass they get they can pass a
question in the questionnaire. The contestant that wins the game gets all the
staked passes and can go downstairs to play another game. Downstairs there are
12 people: 6 real family members and 6 lookalikes. The contestant has to put the
right family member with the right person. When it's not entirely correct, the
people that were placed correctly can stay, and the others have to go back to
their seats. They have to get everyone right in order to win the challenge. They
only get 4 turns, because then there will be no passes left.
First game: Carine quits, Niki draws and then quits, Eef
draws and quits, Marianne draws 2 times and quits, David also
draws 2 times and quits, Hugo quits. Carine has 20 and so does Niki.
Eef, Marianne and David are over 21. And Hugo has
blackjack. So he gets the 6 staked passes and he can try to place the family
members. He only has two people right: his own granddaughter and Marianne's
dad. The other contestants upstairs aren't allowed to talk about their family. David
says it can't be that difficult because some of them showed pictures before this
challenge began. But then Carine gets angry at him, because they weren't
allowed to talk about it. Hugo comes back upstairs, but he can't tell
anything to the others.
Second game: It ends with a draw between Niki and Marianne.
So they play again. Niki wins the passes and tries to put the people at
the right places. She has them all correct!
So both Niki and Hugo have 8 passes and the others have 2 (passes
to pass on a question in the questionnaire). And they can also see their
visitors.
What do the visitors think about the one they visit? Could he or she be the
Mole?
Marianne's father:"It could be possible. It wouldn't surprise me
if she was."
Carine's husband:"I don't think so. She can't lie enough. At
least not to me!"
Hugo's grand daughter:"Sometimes I think he is, and sometimes
I think he isn't. It could be possible."
Niki's daughter:"I think she can be the Mole. She can hide
things easily and sometimes she can be a great lyer."
David's father:"I think he can handle it, because he can toy
with people and lead them astray easily."
Eef's niece:"She could handle it, because psychically she's
very strong. But to me she's definitely not the Mole."
Day 13
Their next challenge is on sea. Their family members are with
them. They hav to reach a harbour 20 kilometers further. They can win
100.000 BEF with it. They get some help. They can use a jetski, a
surfboard, a sailing boat, diving equipment, an inflatable dinghy and
waterski's. But they can only use each means of transportation once. Carine
takes the jetski. But it's one where you have to stand up. She finds it very
difficult and falls a lot. After 2 kilometers she gives up. Eef is
getting seasick. "I knew that if someone would get seasick, it would be
me!" Marianne prepares to go in the inflatable dinghy. But she
doesn't really like water nor fish. "I'd rather have fish on my plate
with some potatoes!" She's sitting in the dinghy rather uncomfortable.
And she can't really row properly, because the oar is made of plastic and folds
each time she puts it in the water. She gets angry and after 20 meters she
stops. David tries the surfboard. "It didn't work out with
Carine. Normally with that jetski, we must have been able to do at least 10
kilometers." Hugo decides to swim a little, because every little
helps. David can't surf with the sail and so he swims with the board
under him. The women prepare the sailing boat. Every woman, except Eef
who's still fighting against the seasickness. "I'll never get on a boat
again. Not even for 5 million BEF!" Hugo is brought to the
place where David stoppped. His sailing boat keels over. Everybody is
laughing at him. He can get 500 meters further. Eef goes diving, but she
doesn't really hurry. She stops very quick, because she can't get speed. Niki
is the final contestant. She is the only one who has ever done watskiing before.
When the boat of the waterski's starts, Marianne gets a lot of seawater
in her face. "And I don't even like water!" Niki can't
hold on, because the distance is too far. She gives up. They lose the challenge.
Suspicions
Niki:"I'm not gonna change my mind anymore. I did it once and I was
terrified. So I'll keep on playing on that person."
Marianne:"In the beginning I had 3: Carine, Hugo and
Dominiek. In that order. I have to chose and I go for Hugo."
Hugo:"I thought Carine would have done a bit better
today."
Carine:"I'm sticking with Eef, because she's so social and
playful. I think she can deceive people easily."
Eef:"No, I'm not 100 % sure. I do have a suspicion and I
won't change my mind anymore."
David:"I'll never say I'm 200 % sure of it anymore, because I
already said that with Dominiek."
Suspicious for the viewers:
Niki and Carine were
eager to deceive Eef and David.
Eef and Davidjust swallowed everything Niki and Carine
said.
Marianne started huffing and puffing when they were almost at the hotel.
Hugo had blackjack with just 2 cards and he only had two people correct.
No one did well in the sea challenge.
