Day 9
That morning we see 4 people.
"Hi, I'm Joost de Munck and I'm here for Sylvie, my girlfriend."
"I'm Charlotte de Bie and I'm here for my daddy, Hugo de Bie."
"My name is Hilde and I'm a friend of Magda."
"And I'm Liesbeth Meisen and I came to visit Belle Seurs. Belle is my
sister in law."
The contestants get a visit. Are they just coming to visit or will they also
search for the Mole?
Sylvie:"I don't really know. Maybe he will."
Hugo:"I think I'll have to explain her first that it's not a
real Mole we're looking for."
Magda:"Yes, she will ask things and try to search
along."
Belle:"Yes definetely, we've already practized at home."
Mon:"My wife was supposed to come visit me, but
she probably wasn't able to do the long journey."
Guy:"Normally my daughter was supposed to come, but
apparently she couldn't make it."
But before they can see their visitors they have to do another
challenge at 'The Castle of Greynan'. They have to divide in two groups. Both
groups get 30 minutes to solve riddles. Every group has the same three riddles
to solve. Each time they give the wrong answer, 5 minutes will be subtracted.
These are the groups:
Group 1: Mon, Sylvie and Belle
Group 2: Magda, Hugo, Guy
The first riddle is a counting exercice. They see a number of triangles and they
have to guess how many there are.
The challenge needs a lot of concentration, because if they give a wrong answer,
they won't only punish theirselves, but they will also punish the other group,
because 5 minutes will be substracted from the total time (30 minutes).
After discussing, Sylvie tries to tell the guard the answer. She thinks
it's 25 triangles, but that's wrong. 5 minutes less time. They still have 50
minutes and 33 seconds. Almost at the same time in another room Guy tries
the answer 32, but that's also wrong. 45 minutes and 29 seconds left. Mon,
Belle and Sylvie have counted it again and they think it's 31.
They're right! The guard let's them in the second room. But Hugo, Magda
and Guy aren't that far yet
The second riddle: on a boat there is a ladder with 8 rungs, the eight and
lowest rung hangs in the water. The distance between the rungs is exactly 25 cm.
Wenn will the water have reached the second rung if you know that the water is
rising with 1 metre per hour. Belle, Mon and Sylvie
calculate it. They think it's 1 hour and 30 minutes. WRONG!! Minus 5 minutes, 36
minutes and 15 seconds left. Mon:"That would have been too
easy."
Meanwhile Guy tries again with 33. WRONG!! Minus 5 minutes, 28
minutes and 45 seconds left.Magda:"Maybe it's 30?" Hugo:"No
no no..."
And group 1 is still trying to figure out when the second rung will be in
the water. Finally Mon says:"The water will never reach the
second rung, because the boat rises with the water!" And that's
correct. The guard let's them go to the third and final riddle.
Meanwhile the others are still trying to count the triangles. They have 24
minutes and 10 seconds left. They give the wrong answer again so they have 19
minutes and 3 seconds left.
So they only have 19 minutes and Belle, Sylvie and Mon are
already at the last riddle: A train drives from A to B at 10 km/h. The same way
back (so from B to A) is at 15 km/h. What is the average speed? Mon:"But
then we need to know how long we drive." They calculate and get to 12,5
km/h. WRONG!! 12 minutes, 24 seconds. Belle:"Mon, you thaught
maths, don't you know..." Mon:"No, I didn't teach maths.
Yes a little bit of algebra, but..." Eventually they get to 12 km/h and
that's right. To get to know the answer you have to take a random distance, e.g.
60 km. Then it would take the train 6 hours to get from A to B (60 km divided by
10 km/h) and 4 hours to drive from B to A (60/15). So the total distance is 120
km in 10 hours' time. 120 km divided by 10 h. is 12 km/h.
So group 1 is out of the castle. But the others are still trying to figure out
the first riddle. Mon:"It would be very pathetic if they even
didn't get 1 answer right." There are 31 seconds left and group 2
finally gives the right answer. But there isn't enough time for the second
riddle, because while they are reading it, they hear a siren. Game Over. No
100.000 BEF.
After that they finally can see their visitors. Later that day
Michiel asks the visitors, who they think the Mole is:
Magda's friend:"I think Hugo's the Mole."
Belle's friend:"I think it's Hugo."
Sylvie's boyfriend:"Hugo."
Then Michiel asks Hugo's daughter:"If your father would be the
Mole, do you think he would tell you?"
Hugo's daughter:"Yes I think so."
Belle's friend:"I don't know... asking a child to visit
him... that indicates innocence, but it can be a diversionary manoeuvre..."
And they laugh together.
And do they think the person who they are visiting can be the
Mole?
Sylvie's boyfriend:"It's possible, because I can easily see her
in that role."
Magda's friend:"I don't think so. And if she would be, she
would have told me."
Belle's friend:"No, I don't think she's the Mole. I would be
a better Mole than her."
Hugo's daughter:"I don't know."
Confession
For one time, two contestants can confess
together, and that's Magda and Guy.
Magda:"Don't you find it strange what happened to Hugo today?
He's an economist and was unable to count the triangles."
Guy:"I think he finds it worse than we do."
Magda:"That we didn't win?"
Guy:"Yes, unless he is the Mole."
Hugo:"I wasn't concentrated enough today. I was thinking
about the game itself while I was supposed to be counting the triangles."
Day 10
The visitors have left. The contestants have
earned 600.000 BEF by now, and they have lost 700.000 BEF.
For the next challenge 4 sporty people are needed. That's Magda,
Sylvie, Guy and Hugo. They have to ride to the top of the
'Mont Ventoux', a very high mountain, by bicycle. A well-trained cyclist needs 2
hours to reach the top. The contestants get 3 hours. They don't have to ride all
at the same time, they relieve each other.
Mon and Belle get a
lift to their hotel in a limousine. They get a smoking and an evening dress.
They can enjoy the day. But they also have to pay attention, because at the end
of the day, Michiel will ask them 1 question, which they have to answer
correctly to win 50.000 BEF. They in the limousine and there they can put
on their clothes and drink champagne. They also find a newspaper. They leaf
through it and then they see the following message in the newspaper:

Enjoy your day, but don't drink to much

PS: How high is the 'Mont Ventoux'?
Meanwhile Guy has taken over Magda's turn. Magda
rests in the car, which is following the person that is on the bike. To Hugo
and Sylvie she says:"The cycling itself isn't that hard, but
when you have to talk to Michiel... that interview is very tough." This
is true, Michiel asks the person that's on the bike all kinds of questions to
exhaust him/her. To Guy he asks why is wheezing like that. Guy:"It's
a regular breathing." Hugo takes over.
Belle and Mon arrive at a posh hotel. Belle introduces
herself and asks the receptionist's name. Because maybe that's what Michiel will
ask them by the end of the day. She goes to the toilet, but when she's done, she
can't find the way out, because all the walls are made of mirrors. She starts to
panic, because she is a little claustrophobic. She finds the elevator, but
refuses to step in it. Meanwhile Mon tries to find her. Finally they find
the stairs. Could this have anything to do with 'The Question'?
Meanwhile Guy tells the others in the car that the interviews are
killing, and Magda strongly agrees.
Sylvie takes over Hugo. Michiel tells her that the group see her
as a secret weapon to make the challenge a succes, but Sylvie doesn't say
a thing and only laughs. Magda takes over and again Michiel is there to
interview her. He tells her that Pantani (a cyclist) only needed 58 minutes to
reach the top of the Mont Ventoux. Magda only says "Yes".
Suddenly she yells:"F*ck! The chain has gone off!" Guy
immediately jumps out of the car to get a new bike. A few moments later Michiel
asks her what their tactics are. Magda:"Just cycling and no
talking!" She's obviously annoyed by Michiel and his interview. The
Mont Ventoux takes its toll, because the contestants are getting tired and they
take each other over faster and faster. Sylvie says she really likes this
challenge, but it's almost over. Suddenly they see a message on the road:
STOP NOW YOU STILL HAVE THE CHANCE!
THE MOLE
And they also see a road sign of 'Le Mont Ventoux', which has
been changed into 'De Mol Ventoux' (De Mol = The Mole). They laugh about it and
think that it's crazy. Finally it's Hugo who reaches the top. They win
100.000 BEF.
Meanwhile
Belle and Mon have had a sauna and a swim in the pool. They also
went to the kitchen and asked all sorts of questions like 'How many cooks do you
have?' and 'What do we eat this evening?'. That evening the 4 cyclists meet Belle
and Mon. They are all very glad that they have finally won some money
again. It would be very pathetic if Belle and Mon don't get their
question right, because the others have exhausted themselves and won the money
while they have had a nice relaxing day. So it's up the them to give the right
answer to Michiel's question. Michiel asks them a few questions (he knows what Belle
and Mon have asked to the Hotel personnel). Each time they answer the
question they are glad, but Michiel always tells them that it wasn't the real
question. Then it's truly time for the real one. "Which beverage did
you two drink in the limousine? Don't answer to fast, think well." But
the question isn't that difficult at all. CHAMPAGNE! Correct, 50.000 BEF!
Suspicions
Magda:"Potentially
it could be Hugo, Guy or Mon..."
Belle:"I think it's Mon, because in the begin he told me he
was a maths teacher, and now it turns out he wasn't."
Mon:"Nothing went wrong today, so there wasn't a Mole."
Guy:"There weren't any facts today, but I think challenges
failed because of Sylvie."
Sylvie:"But maybe I have to leave today."
Hugo:"It's possible that people suspect me, especially after
the challenges with the triangles."

It took Magda, Hugo and Guy a long time to find the
answer to the first riddle, so they lost the challenge.
The chain of the bike went off when Magda
was on it.
The Execution
Before the execution they always get some questions.
Here's a few of them:
*Did the Mole dance during the pause on their way to the visitors?
*When did the Mole get massaged?
*Is the Mole baptized?
And then it's time for the execution. Who has to leave? Well... it's...
SYLVIE
So Sylvie wasn't the Mole and she didn't know who it was either.
