When Laura arrived at the church, she sat down with her pizza diagonally across from Robert. After chatting his ear off about her summer service trip to Thailand, she was surprised when this good looking guy actually approached her later in the evening while getting snowcones at Shivers. It was then that they discovered they shared something aside from their faith and their school in common - adoption. Laura was adopted as a baby and Robert has 5 adopted siblings. While Robert did not really enjoy his snowcone that much, they both enjoyed their conversation together.
The next Sunday, Robert intentionally lingered in the hallway by their Sunday school classes (which just so happened to be right next door to each other), and Laura invited him to lunch afterward with the rest of what became Summer Crew '05. After several hilarious group game nights, involving Scene-it, Catch Phrase, and Taboo, and volleyball games as well, Robert asked Laura out on a date. The rest is history!!!
