Chat and Chew Saturday morning and the sun is starting to come up over the beach. The day will soon be hot, but for now, the ocean breeze is blowing in and it is a perfect setting to sit and talk for a while over breakfast and coffee. I know the above may seem a bit idyllic, but this is just the way I spent a recent Saturday morning. And what made it all the better was the fact that I was able to enjoy the company of individuals whom I have come to regard as the best of friends. For those of us who ride, the two wheel way takes on many forms and many adventures. Some folks always ride in big groups, a parade of chrome and exhaust notes thundering down the avenue. Others prefer the solidarity of endless days alone on the open road, while still others hang out with a click of friends who share their particular flavor of motorcycling. But on this particular Saturday morning, what was most important to me wasn't the ride, but the company I was keeping. If you are a regular reader of this eZine, than you are familiar with Terry Brown, our most excellent photographer, and Steve Mate, Publisher and my cohort in crime for producing each of these editions. We were joined by another good friend, Brennan Wood, who we are constantly trying to get to make the commitment to two wheels. While the four of us sat and talked, I smiled as I thought of the adventures we had shared over the years, both on and off the road. We are as different in our tastes, personalities and desires as four people could be, yet here we sat, busting on each other, telling lies, and laughing so hard that my eyes were tearing and my sides hurting. In the middle of all this I realized that as much as I enjoy sharing the open road, cramped rooms, and frozen campsites with these guys, the fact that we are always there for each other looms over all. If you too are lucky enough to have found friends like this, Hang on to them, no matter what. Take care and ride safe. Larry “SideShow” Fitch Editor in Chief Rollin' eZine |
