Tank Requirements

| Tank Size | Minimum of 50 Gallons, but larger is better. |
| Filtration | Canister Filter is recommended. A filter that can filter 8-10 times the tank size per hour is needed for proper filtration. |
| Aeration | Some form of water aeration is needed since African Cichlids require well oxygenated water. |
| Decoration | Smooth rocks with holes and crevices, along with open water. |
| Substrate | Sand is recommended since it closely resembles their natural environment. |
| Diet | Spirulina is a good choice since it contains 65-70% protein. |
