Nowhere in Africa October 3, 2003 Starring: Juliane Kohler, others Director: Caroline Link Nowhere In Africa is actually a german film set during the second world war. It is about one's family escape from germany to a farm in Africa just before the war and follows their journey for a ten period. The best part of this movie is the shots of the africa terrain. This movie was definitely made for international showing as it has german, african, english and french incorporated in the dialogue (and perhaps more). The culture clashes throughout the movie are interesting to see throughout as well. The movie is however 2 and a half hours long and really to have a movie this long it just has to be better than this. There is some drama going on, but really for most of the movie there are just living and going through the routine in their new home. I would have liked to see more drama or action, someone get bodily injured, something!! Overall, it was still pretty captivating, you have to appreciate foreign films for this one, this doesn't get any more foreign than this. In short: Rating: B |
