I was expecting another Spiderman blockbuster with the former replaced with the Hulk essentially. Instead, I got this over two hour long dramatic, dark, interesting, and in the end utterly confused with what the point of the movie is movie. There is so much to love, yet so much to wonder what they were thinking.

To start, I think Ang Lee's direction and build up to the Hulk transformation was very well done and interesting. The editing is sometimes forced but also one of the few fun moments in the film. The problem is that the script is very dramatic and to be honest, most of the cast can't act for shit (Hey, I didn't want to use profanity, but no one reads any of this shit anyways, so fuck 'em).

When the action actually starts, over an hour into the movie, the movie just becomes a dumb action film. No one acts the way someone would if they actually saw someone turn into a 30 foot green giant, go hysterical!!

I applaud Ang Lee to try to do something different with a Bona Fide Blockbuster, but I exited the room confused about what I really saw. I don't know how kids can like it because it's too long and won't care about the drama. I don't know how adults can enjoy this because the film's dramatic scenes aren't executed very well and the ending is sort of besides the point. So for who was this movie for?

In short:
Comedy: None, two hours plus without comedy is too long
Violence/language: Lots of chases, destruction and action, no language
Nudity/sex: None
High Points: At times brilliant directing, CGI and story
Low Points: At times terrible directing, CGI and story, bad acting

Rating: C+
