Freddy vs. Jason September 4, 2003 Starring: Robert Englund, Ken Kirzinger, Monica Keena, Jason Ritter, Kelly Rowland, Katherine Isabelle, Brendan Fletcher, Christopher George Marquette, Lochlyn Munro Director: Ronny Yu Official Website: http://www.freddyvsjason.com/ Ok, I was hugely against this film being made. Both franchises have been dead for a long time and dead for a reason. As much as I love Kreuger, to see him in a film along Jason really didn't make any sense to me. But then I figured "Is there any Freddy or Jason flick that made any sense?" So I went to see it anyways. The verdict? Nostalgic to some extent, but otherwise as disappointing as I thought it would be. At least, this film offers a fair share of comedy, the best compliment to horror flicks. It also brings back the good old days where no girl was killed unless they exposed their breasts. Ah the good ol' days...Keeping up with the positive, the film was high bugdet enough to at least not look totally cheesy, but fails at being really scary. Ok, I don't know about you, but I remembered Freddy to be a little scary. Here, he comes off as a big joke. The dialogue he has is too retarded, even for a seven year old. Jason just hasn't changed one bit, and every time he hasn't scared me one bit. It seems this film does nothing to even try to improve on either series' ealry 90's flicks. And how sad is it when Kelly Rowland is one of the better actors on this set? Anyways, I still had a good time, so I suppose it wasn't a total waste. Just turn off your common sense if you go see it
In short: Rating: C |
