The Sisserou Parrot (Amazona Imperialis) one of two endemic parrots found on Dominica, is the largest and most colourful of all Amazons. There numbers are small in the wild and they don't reproduce in captivity. Efforts by the Government of Dominica with the assistance of international organisations have contributed to their protection. It is the nation's national bird.
