| Did you know that contrary to popular belief the heliconias flowers are not red but actually yellow. These greenish yellow flowers are actually very small and can be found in the pocket-like red structures that make up the heliconia. On Dominica the heliconia is known as the Balizie (accent on the e) in the local French Creole. The smaller yellow heliconias you may notice around the island are not endemic to the island. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
