Elven RPGs

What are RPGs?
An RPG, or a Role Playing Game, a term most of you should be familiar with, is a game in which you take on the role of a character and you are usually on some sort of mission. In this case, you are an elf in the army of Rivendell, and whenever a new RPG arises in Rivendell (our forum), you can participate.

Missions
In Rivendell, we frequently have missions in which the whole army participates. Sometimes it is against an enemy whose actions are created by the RPG master, usually an officer in the army. Sometimes we fight humans on the other side of the computer screen through message boards. Usually they are from Mordor (in the plaza). Sometimes we will travel through forests and mountains to get to our destination, sometimes we will travel on boats. Usually we are the agressors, and in those cases the Troops Abroad (land) or the Sea Forces is the main troop, though the other troops certainly play major roles. In the case of Defence, the Rivendell Defence will come to our aid. The Spies gather intelligence.

Officers and RPG Masters
The Officers are in charge of commanding their troops, and the Generals dictate the whole army. Usually an officer or two are the RPG Masters, who start the RPG. The RPG Masters will post the guidelines and objectives at the beginning, and they will participate in the action by fighting and by creating obstacles for the army to face. RPG Masters also decide what happens, no matter what anybody else says (except maybe Pip, MC, Laebeth, Aurethil, and Elnarsil). Of course, the army may develop their own challenges and usually the RPG Master allows that. The RPG Masters are responsible for sorting out confusion within the ranks, too.

Fighting/text format
Okay, but how do you fight? This is a bit confusing at first, but in no time youll catch on. When controlling yourself, you will put everything inside these **. When you talk to other players, just type normally. And when talking about things not relating to whats happening to the RPG, put OG: before your text. Also, when making something happen, (and what happens should be realistic!) also use these **. Now I know that sounds confusing, so I will include a sample on the next page.
