Army Ranks: What they mean

By Laebeth

General
2.General
3.General
***Captain    SP***Captain   High Councellor
                           **Captain    SP**Captain
                            *Captain     SP*Captain       Counsellor
                              Captain     SP Captain
                              Lieutenant SP Lieutenant     Adviser
                              Sergeant   SP Sergeant

Note: It is not shown any of Honour ranks here, but these will be explained as well.

Look at the ranks above. The ranks lying on the same horizontal line have the same authority. For example are * Captain, Counsellor and SP * Captain equal ranks. General is the highest rank, and Sergeant and SP Sergeant are the lowest.

Please note that when it comes to a Captains stars, these arent normal stars which are easily gained, but whole ranks!

The Generals have authority over the whole Army.

The Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants are in charge of one regiment each, mostly together with someone else. There can be no more than three leaders for one regiment. Leaders from the same regiment can have the same ranks.
The Captains have more power than the Lieutenants and Sergeants, and therefore, if a decition shall be made, her/his opinion count more than the Lieutenants or Sergeants.
A lieutenant have again more authority than a Sergeant.

A high ranker from another regiment cant give orders to a member who is not in her/his regiment, if this persons leader(s) are active, but shall still be regarded with deep respect.

The SP (special position) high rankers are not in charge of a regiment, but another important part of the Army. For example is Drakin leader of the Dragon Defence.
This means shes in charge of everything in the Army that has to do with Dragons, like training them, breeding them, etc. Shes also got the authority to get some helpers from one of the regiments if she needs it.

The of Honour ranks are not shown here, but they still count. These ranks are very special ranks, given only on very special occations, and then only to ***Captains (including SP), 3. Generals, 2. Generals and Generals
For example: If Aurthil suddenly got a very demanding job, and had no time for the Army anymore, she could choose to receive the title 2.General of Honour.
This means she still has the same authority in the Army but shes no longer an active member, and has kind of retired from the Army.
Why this title? you may ask, but just think about how much she has done for the Army!
It would be very sad to leave without nothing when you were on the top, and had put so much work into it.
Note: This was just an example, Aurthils not quitting!

A short lesson from the wise Mithrolas

By Mithrolas (Former Lt. of the TA)

When I first joined the army, I was begging to be a captain or a lieutenant, though I had no idea what that would mean. All I wanted was power. This is common among new members, but let me say it now: No. Thats not the way!

Be patient, and work hard within your troop. Dont go overboard and act like you are in charge, even if you are trying to help. Simply help with whatever you think you should do and have fun! Give ideas, be active, fight hard. Thats the way to climb the ladder. Dont worry, everything you do well the officers will probably catch. Dont get too worried about this idea.

But you have to have the ambition to be up there. Also know that it is a responsibility, and youll have to work hard once youre up there. Other than that, go on out there and fight your head off!
