BIJYO GA YAJYU - BEAUTY IS THE BEAST

Main Characters: Yamashita Eimi and Wanibuchi Takami
Bijyo ga yajyu, aka Beauty is the beast is an on-going series by Matsumoto Sensei. It's a romance comedy, touching on the hostel lives of a group of girls. The main character Eimi (pronounced as Amy) gets transferred in and gets to know the girls in her dorm, as well as some of the guys, when she has to make a trip to their dorm on some sort of initiation dare.

Eimi had been warned against having anything to do with a character called Wanibuchi, supposedly a character with a dark personality, feared by one and all. But Eimi, being Eimi, with her sunny kind of scatterbrained humour, hits it off with Wanibuchi after he saves her from getting into trouble.

She has a funny habit of shortening a person's name to make it convenient and affectionate. She shortens Wanibuchi's name to Wanichin and he's quite taken aback when he first hears it - he's used to people being wary of him and keeping their distance.

There are many funny incidents that occur in the girls' dorms as there are other supporting characters that get equal attention. As usual, the illustrations are very pretty with the signature style of Matsumoto Sensei.
