STANDING
COMMITTEES
Executive
The responsibilities of this committee include overseeing the Massachusetts
Avenue project, training board members, and coordinating the work of the
other committees.
Finance
This committee reviews the monthly financial statements, the annual budget,
and financial audit and reports back to the board. It reviews and
makes recommendations about the financial procedures of the organization.
It develops and implements a spending and investment policy for the organization's
endowed and surplus operating funds.
Fund Raising
This committee develops a strategic, long-range fund raising plan that diversifies
the sources of funding for the organization. They work with the Marketing
and Community Relations Committee to plan the Annual Membership Meeting.
Marketing
This committee develops plans for promoting the organization and its projects
for purposes of generating political support, financial support, and participants
for the projects of the organization. This committee is also responsible
for conducting a neighborhood needs assessment to ensure the relevance of
the organization's activities. They assist the fund raising committee
with planning the annual membership meeting.
Personnel
This committee develops personnel policies for the organization, evaluates
the performance of the executive director, reviews employee salaries, benefits
and training, and makes recommendations to the full board regarding personnel
issues.
Planning
This committee creates a strategic long-range plan for the organization
and updates it annually, and overseas areas of new direction. They
plan the board retreat for purposes of involving the full board in developing
the strategic plan.
Project Development
This committee is responsible for overseeing the various housing and economic
development projects of the organization. These responsibilities include,
but are not limited to, homeowner repairs, new home construction, rental
housing construction and management, Massachusetts Avenue Sidewalk Renaissance,
and the Riley Park project.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Nominating
This committee identifies potential new board members and officers and presents
them to the full board for approval. It orients new board members
to the organization and the expectations of board membership and plans training
for the current board.
